Yeah, I was wondering when the research call was coming. I came up with one idea. Something like a coaxial cartridge, like a pengun. Think it might work?

You have a hammer hit a schrader which releases the piston shooting the ammo... Take a look at jsr's pengun diagrams.

Experimenting is the fun part, plus you learn a hell of a lot. Don't get discouraged, it's a project...If I remember what I read correctly, Edison designed 4,000 plus light bulb filaments before he hit pay dirt.
Look at that as a example, remember to turn a light on so you can see it better.

See this article for idea similar to what you are proposing.

That is a brilliant idea, so you would have a hammer which you could cock back twist the revolver-style chamber so that it lines up with the barrel the trigger would then release the hammer pressing the schrader on the cartridge in the revolving chamber firing the projectile in the cartridge out of the barrel, the revolving chamber would then be turned lining up a new cartridge- repeating the process, is that what you mean? if it is i could do some quick cad-design on sketchup of what the layout would be. 8)

Yeah pretty much. Its a souped up version of a cap gun, that actually shoots.
would you both:
want a semi automatic gun, in which the trigger both moves the revolving chamber in line, and pulls the hammer back and fires it(expensive and reasonably complicated, long trigger pull-less accurate shots), or a manual one which you cock and then fire manually (easier and simpler to make, - less to go wrong)
and, would you want me to do a cad of this? cos i can do them quite well.

Second one. Actually, do both in sketchup, since I have that...

how about something like a shotgun slug, but instead of pellets have your sticky compound. The compound might need to be contained in some kind of thin shell to stop it spraying, like a paintball.

I do believe this is known as a double action revolver.cammyd32 wrote:would you both:
