haha!

If you look carefully at the base of the chamber, you can actually see the flash of combustion glow through the foam and epoxy plug :D

Would you like to hold an experimental hybrid without knowing whether it will blow up or not?

cool, at least this time it worked, any idea on muzzle velocity?

also what did you use for a burst disc?

Nice job! Same questions as above  I like the flash!

The man makes a good point ;)

This was at 6x using photo paper as a burst disk. I can't get it to ignite any higher with piezo ignition, I might have made the spark gap a little too wide.

Also sometimes the disk doesn't burst, the chamber gets very hot and when you open the schrader an amusing whiff of smoke comes out. As you can see the chamber is now much more substantial and will happily take the pressure, unlike my previous effort.

Ammunition is a 0.22" airgun pellet (barrel is 5.5mm I/D brass tube), I didn't chrony it but to be honest muzzle energy isn't that impressive - however as someone accustomed to HPA launchers I'm not easily impressed  a pellet at 6x made a big dent in 0.6mm steel sheet but did not penetrate. My PCPs firing the same pellet at 850-900 fps will happily punch through the same target.

Nice!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Honestly happy you succeeded!

Thanks :) without your ignition/mix advice it wouldn't have happened :)

Not sure if it's worth pursuing in this calibre though, given the power. It was far from supersonic, so no real benefits over an HPA pneumatic of the same size. Still interested in hybrids as a cartridge fed device though... and maybe a 12 bore 8)

One small footnote for those who think that there is no progress on the forums, this used to be considered a "mini hybrid" :D

WTF that links to a 3x hybrid with a DWV cleanout cap, lol. Certainly our safety standards have gone up,

I think it was ironical reference to his fails

@JSR
lol you've got a threaded connection on it... HERESY!!
muzzle energy isn't that impressive
what you are waiting for... go for 10X mix :D
MOAR is a good thing[/quote]

It usually is, but in this case MOAR than 6x isn't igniting...

hit a small dent just at the end of epoxy so the spark gap will be little smaller :D

Yeah I'd follow that advice... spark grap really needs to be small.
