I've looked around the site and haven't seen anything done like this, but I could be wrong.

Anyway here is my semi idea.

It's a type of barrel sealing semi auto valve. Instead of having two separate mechanisms to load the projectile and release the pressure, is it possible to combine the two. In the pictures below it shows the bolt directly attached to the piston, but it could be separated by a threaded rod, or other types of connections. Just so long as when the piston pulls back, it takes the bolt with it. Using something like Clide's slider valve on the back http://www.spudfiles.com/forums/semi-auto-t160.html, it might work, just thought I would run it by some other minds.

A few problems that I forsee would be:
-A heavy "piston", takes longer to open.
-Keeping the holes in the bot aligned to allow the ammo to fall through

Just wondering if this has been done before

woops yep somebody beat me too it. I guess the only difference is mine moves just a small section of the barrel "the bolt" instead of the entire thing.
looks like he didn't get very good performance off of it anyway.

there is someone else who did this with copper pipe and marbles that worked extremely well....

if i could find it id post it here, all i remember is the poor guy who made it was flamed out the wazoo for the fact his pipe looked like it had been burned.

In his defence, it is a bit of a work in progress, and had some design flaws such as a small diameter piston. If you feel you can do better we'd love to see your work

I'm afraid I haven't posted anything in a while, but I can assure you, I watch almost every thread! I currently working on a "European" version of Clides amazing GB canon.

Yeah, this mechanism really rocks, reliable and simple. Only problem I had was making an air-tight seal at the magazine junction.. The opening time in my canon was quite good, if the marbles wasn't lined up properly, the bolt would easily shop 'em in half. But as in my original post I give much credit to Galfisk (I think Clide played a part too) in designing this type of "linked piston bolt" design a time back.. At least thats were I got my inspiration from.

Anyway Mexthatcan it will be very interesting to see your results!
