1.5 inch ball bearings

do you know if they make these cause my barrel is 1.5inch and i would just grind the bearings down a bit with my wire brush grinder so ?

They probably make them; the only problem is finding out who "They" are. Ball bearings of that size will probably cost more than you want to pay for ammo, too.

I posted a tutorial on how to make cannon balls of any size in the how-to section a while back. I'm extremely lazy and tired right now so you'll have to look for the link manually.

i would say steel ball bearings that size would be too heavy for a launcher and like fnord said too expensive. and grinding them down with a wire brush just aint gonna happen. im sure ball bearings are annealed "very hardened". u could take a 1" pipe and cut sort pieces, cap them and flare out the bottom for a tight fit. btw is your gun a combustion or pneumatic?

I don't know if you get them in america but you know those magnet stes with the plastic rods and people make stuff like robot models andhouses out of them> well you can get really big ones and the balls that hold the plastic rods together (their magnets) would be perfect.

My uncle owns a electric motor repair business, and everytime I went up there he gave me several "steelies" (large diameter ball bearings). I still have some of them somewhere, and I recall some of them being over 2" in diameter. I am unsure if any are with in close tolerance to the nominal pipe sizes.

As mentioned finding them will be a bit of trouble, and in short supply.

It would be a bit hard to grind down a 1.5" bearing...Good luck getting a nice spherical shape,and a good seal.Just look in the How-To section plenty of good info there.

A 1.5" ball bearing would be too small for a normal SCH 40 1.5" barrel (which would be about 1.6" ID). 1.5" ball bearings on McMaster are $5.18 each, but for a SCH 40 barrel you would be better with a 1-9/16" ball bearing. McMaster sells ball bearings up to 4-1/2" in diameter, but bigger ones probably do exist.

And I really doubt your ability to effectively grind one of these down with any success.
