The bottle is the chamber, then turn, in this case, the ball valve to release the pressure, firing whatever is in the barrel.
You gotta be kidding me! Do some freaking RESEARCH! COMPRESSED AIR is filled into the CHAMBER, the VALVE opens, COMPRESSED AIR goes THROUGH the BARREL!

lol what r u for guy??? d-roc, I'm just 15 years old and I know how pneumatics work. i know how combustion works, but only don't know how hybrids work and than i won't make it. i f you don't know from the start how air works than you don't make a pneumatic canon.
how it works (specially for you)
air is with hi pressure pumped in a chamber (in the pic above, the soda bottle)
when you want to shoot you pull the valve open and the valve let air come through it, it follows the barrel and underway it pics up the ammo (at spud guns normally potatoes)and the air shoots out the end of the barrel and boom:D potato fires,
but remember do not shoot on any living things or shoot with it, ore we will do this with you

hey,at least he asked.I'm sure at one point at time none of knew anything, either.cut him some slack.go to http://www.howstuffworks.com and type in potato gun or spud gun.It will give a easily understandable explination and an animation of how both a combustion and pnumatic potato gun work
actually, heres the link.look at all 7 pages http://science.howstuffworks.com/spud-gun.htm on the fourth page ic anatomy of a pnumatic spudgun click on the picture to start the anamation
And Taz22,I'm only14,and I've built a pnumatic spudun 18 feet long

ok, this is off topic, but Rambo, how is that chamber on ur gun attached to the valve, it really doesnt look safe. and taz22, age has nothing to do with spudgunning, im only 15 and im concidering building a 8in diameter chamber hybrid. and D-Roc, just search around the forums a little and do some reaserch, but i think by now u understand how they work.
i got connections with the modfia, watch who ur talkin to noob.
