Has anyone tried stefans/homemade nerf darts?

Here are instructions on how to make them.

http://www.instructables.com/id/Make-yo ... 3a-Stefans./

Maybe keep your spudder at a lower pressure for "safe" nerf battles?
Always wear eye protection!!!

"3/8" = nano stefans
1/2" = micro stefans
5/8" = mega stefans
3/4" = (I do not remember the term for these, but they are not a common caliber)
1" = mongo stefan
The larger the caliber of your dart, the more weight you will need. Keep in mind that 1/2" stefans are the most versatile, and are used in ALL wars conducted by members of the NIC. Other calibers are rarely used"

A comment on the instructable.

If anyone tries them can you please leave a comment on the preformance?

Since Im waiting for my dad to buy the parts I need for my first pnuematic.

"NEVER SHOOT PROJECTILES AT HUMANS!"

Unless the subject is a willing target with projectiles like airsoft or paintball and a "safe" velocity. (like airsoft 100-500fps or paintball 300fps)

Have you ever heard of airsoft, paintball or nerf?
They involve shooting humans with projectiles.

Ben, I'm gonna have to agree with Zen. Nerf was designed to shoot at other people, just like airsoft or paintball. It is not mentioned in the rules, but that is their intended purpose. Besides, I would rather be shot with a stefan than an airsoft pellet or paintball anyday.

Anyway, back to the subject matter at hand. I have fired the actual nerf darts with the suction caps out of my 3/4 inch and destroyed the dart at like 35 psi. The foam cannot handle the compression of the gas behind it. Releasing the valve destroys the dart. It would get quite expensive.

I have successfully made darts out the harder dense foam that is used for model rocketry and other modeling. They hold up okay in light powered pneumatics but they can't take the impact with the target very well. Probably the foam is just too soft.

But for light hearted, and powered airsoft, they might work, they are just designed for spring guns not air guns.
Trying to figure out how to make a SCUBA first stage regulator work for portable charging station. If only that pesky job thing didn't keep eating up all my time...
