Damn, time to write a post.
Instead of using NaCl, then dealing with Cl gas bubbling through the NaOH solution, just use the NaOH.
Bring it past MP (but within 5*C), stick in some electrodes, and hook up a decent power supply. Something like 5v, 45-65A should do nicely. Place your cathode under a containment device to collect the sodium. After you have had it bubble for a period of time, cool things off, and get it under something to protect the Na from the air.

so you are just trying to get sodium? You can buy it for $35 for 10 oz but that is pretty expensive. I will look for the link in a minute.

I am working on the assumption that making sodium is what he wants to do, and actually possessing sodium is nothing exciting. At least, that is the type of person I am.
