It should indeed - I thought about it, but even if 500 cc of hydrogen a minute was plausible from a small cheap rig, that's 25 minutes of charging for HEAL.

I may try it later, but I have other ideas I'd like to try first. I think speeding up fire is my next concern, maybe even semi-auto. A 300 psi semi, that would be something to see.
Does that thing kinda look like a big cat to you?

if the beast is correct then your cannon not be faster but will be ligther

for the ballons youl need attach a coin or a nail to make it heavier than airs so it fall down like a bomb
so i didnd seen that i has written niegthborg teice (f!"$ing spellcheck)

In less-dense gasses (like Hydrogen or Helium) the speed of sound is higher.
Thus making it easier to cross the sound barrier for your projectile since the gasses behind it can easily keep up since they have a higher speed of sound.

And I believe they also just flow easyer (like low-vicosity fluids vs dense, yoghurt-like fluids)

Really, pressure is pressure, but Hydrogen is a more actively moving gas than all other atmospheric gases, so it would expand faster and fire your projectile SLIGHTLY faster...

Really this would be much better for an all-metal hybrid gun, with metered H2/O2, and then further pressurized by atmospheric air.

@frogy: this will not work. Since the h2/02 mix that comes out of the electrolysis machine is the right mix. Adding extra 02 will only increase the oxygen level, but the same amount of h2 will burn so the performance will stay the same. In order to use this for a hybrid you will have to pressurize it with the 02/h2 mix out of the machine. Or with metered h2 and then pressurize it with atmospheric air.

Well you can't exactly use a common air compressor to pressurize an extremely combustible mixture can you?

I know they do sell special compressors for this though...

You say slightly and yes, on a normal pneumatic it is slightly, BUT when getting advanced you will observe getting blocked by the sound barrier.
And guess what? That barrier is way higher in H2.

Also I think it also does a good job on "ineffecient" guns with alot of flow restriction. This restriction counts way less when using a light gas.

Also you should note this:
If it would increase 10% velocity on a normal pneumatic, do count in that the projectile kinetic energy is 1/2*m*v^2
So even a "SLIGHT" increase in velocity creates a "SLIGHT*SLIGHT" ="Very notieable" increase in kinetic energy.

Though it would be much safer and more reasonable to use Helium in pneumatics.
Till the day I'm dieing, I'll keep them spuddies flying, 'cause I can!

Haha... Tell me about it... Compressing flammable gases to high pressures isn't my thing....

My GB Sch 80 Hybrid has met his\her maker time and time again... Finally sent that one off to the junkyard after I blew more than my union.

Is this style of electrolysis more effecient than the Hoffman voltameter one? Also in a Hoffman voltameter you can add in more water and the oxygen and hydrogen are seperated.
Here is a pic if you don't know what i'm talking about

I've say a portable Hoffman cell make from 3 Tee's and a few male\female adapters...

It really matters if you want to meter H2 \ O2 together or separately...

If you wanted very high hybrid mixtures, it is much "safer" to compress O2 rather than H2 or a H2/O2 mixture...
