I was wondering if a robber comes in the house with a gun. So I want to make a decent sized but powerful gun that can pierce skin...What is the minimum FPS to pierce skin? No, I won't shoot it at animals. I'll probably use it for long range target practice and for self defence....

if a person breaks into your house, steals junk and on the way out, they slip and fall and breaks his spine, YOU will get charged, what makes shooting him any different?

also fps has not much to do with penetration ablilties
you gotta count projectile's energy, and it's shape.
