Hi,

I design a very simple cannon that I plan to build next week. I just want to know your opinion on this simple gun made with 2 1" sprinkler valve. It's all made of SCH40. I will use it with about 100 psi. And I want to know if the ammount of air will be ennough for the size of the air chamber and for the size of the barrel.

This is the plan, I you dont understand anythings on it ask me

yeah, that'll work fine, you can lengthen the barrel if you want, you should also build a barrel support, so it doesnt whip around when you fire it.

reduce the size of the manifold connecting the barrel to the valves the dead space reduces performance. also if your using chambers that big use a 2 inch connection and a thereded bushing so you can upgrade later

I would leave it as is because how else are you meant to vent to valves into 1 barrel with out atleast that amount of dead space? But you could have the elbows as a part of the camber and vent into the tee directly thats the only way i can see of reducing the dead space.

The 2 black circle are sprinkler valve.

I didnt draw the blowgun (to open these srpinkler valve) and all the hoses to connect these 2 chamber.

I would highly suggest better valves. Dumping a 4" by 1.5' chamber threw 1" then a sprinkler vavle is really killing your flow. You dont need to buy a supah or anything, just build a T-piston.

it'll shoot good, dont get me wrong, but i agree with pimpmann, build some piston valves, or get some bigger sprinklers

I love how the problems on Spudfiles are pointed out much slower than in a duplicate thread on Spudtech.

Yes, other people have built similar things to your design and they work alright, but what if I told you that for about $15 more you can have yourself a MUCH more powerful launcher without needing to modify your chamber or barrel volume?

Do what Pimpman said (which is about exactly what I said on Spudtech) and make two Barrel-Sealing Tee Valves, each actuated by a modified sprinkler valve. They are not hard to make in a 2" Tee. 1.25" end caps fit perfectly inside 2" pipe and work great as pistons. Give it a try and you should be quite happy.
