Pneumatic Cartridge
I've noticed that all these ideas involving cartridges have been popping up. I came up with an idea how to make reusable pneumatic cartridges without wasting expensive tire valves in the projectile itself. My idea is somewhat simple, the shell is made out of copper or PVC and the compressed air is held inside a balloon which is held inside the shell and because it is in the shell, it doesn't expand as much and can hold just a little bit more air than normal, I believe this is how Nerf Guns hold their air. The balloon is popped by the guns bolt and the balloon pops letting the air out. I'm also wondering if layering the balloons would help any.

I'm just curious... For less work and money than building those would cost, what about just using bb-gun type CO2 cartridges? The gun's "hammer" could just peirce the back of it... You can buy them for well under a buck a peice if you buy them bulk. I seriously doubt I'm the first to have thought of this.
Just an idea, and I don't mean to insult your idea in any way.

can a balloon contain the psi that would be required to launce something?
This idea would probably work for small caliber. I had another idea to put a pin in the cartridge and pop a burst disk between the ammo and the compressed air, the back end would be sealed, the pin would sit inside the cartridge and be pushed somehow with the bolt. This was just off the top of my head, I'll try to figure it out.

Layering the balloons would help, how would you pump up these cartridges? I am assuming you have thought up a way of blowing up the balloon in the chamber. If it doesn't burst, (which unfortunately is very likely since balloons are elleptical and the chamber is cylindrical) the balloons will be very difficult to blow up and then place a burst disk or something in between. You cant really blow them up using your mouth, and a compressor has not got the necessary connection.

Good points Jakal444, once you fill them, How do you unhook the air source without letting all the air out? Remember, in oridgenal post says no tire valves???
EDIT: Without wasteing tire valves.

I wasn't talking about high PSI's. Just enough for small caliber, low enough to shoot like foam balls in the house.

If you deleted this I'd appreciate it. I'm trying to come up with a way to make pneumatic cartridges that don't waste tire valves. Maybe have a double loader, having the compressed air in one cartridge and the ammo in another ahead of it. The air cartridge would have a tire valve in one end and a burst disk in the other end.
