I looked in the wiki... and searched the forum and couldnt find info on burst disk material.
I have a hybrid very near to completion just need to fool proof the ignition system and trouble shoot a few ignition kinks... anyways I have a 1 1/4 steel union and i was trying to think of some burst disk material. Some I know are:
1.milk jug plastic
2. foil
3. ...? cant think of any more
I used foil in my test and it seemed like a lot of hassle with 16 sheets of foil it was hard to keep them all in line.
I found that foil bursts at around 5psi per sheet, roughly how much does a milk jug rupture at?
Thanks guys

I've said it a few times but I don't know if any one has tried them but roofing tins seem like they would make a good burst disk...you can pick them up at most hardware stores and the are thin gauge galvanized steel. Usually sold by the pound...

Pretty much anything that you can find that will fit in your union will make a good burst disc material.
Edit: I was the one who said that bike inner tubes work well, but when I said that they burst at 150 PSI, I was using a 1/2" union, so if you use them in a 1 1/4" union, they will burst at a lot lower pressure.

Aluminum cans might be good I tried that the other day to pressure test the chamber
Any guesses as to what the burst pressure would be?

I think it was said 1 layer of aluminium can is good for 150ish psi, don't quote me, I may be wrong. If memory serves me correctly, layering increases the breaking point for each layer. Again, don't quote me.

No matter what I do I always end up going back to aluminum foil.
I would reccomend to just stop looking for new burst disk ideas because you are going to just end up going back to aluminum foil as i did.
I realize this post will most likely be ignored but im just sharing my thoughts.

Yep I agree with that aluminum foil is easy and I can figure out how many sheets I need very quickly.
Im also going to try milk jugs
I dont know about soda cans though becuase I just think its kind of thick
