It's odd when you compare the number of votes to the number of active members here.

And to think we have 90 members with over 500 posts and 180 members in total with over 200 posts.

Out of those top 90 members, probably only 20 voted, then maybe 10 members from the 200-500 range and another 10 members from the 25-200 range.

We have a lot of inactive high posting members. :?

Hey Crowley maybe you could send every active member a message about this thread with the date it started and the ending date. is there some type of program for forums to do that? maybe then the endless bumping will die down.

Even if you could do that, I couldn't. The only way I think you could do it would be to add every active member to a group and then either PM or email them.

That would require filterting through several thousand members etc.

All 6000 members? You have got to be kidding.

Regardless, this competition is flawed. I personally don't see it as anything official, all it is at the moment is saying 'this cannon is the favourite cannon of the site, judged by 40 members'.

Even if you did get 6000 people to vote, you would have to go through every cannon on the site and find the best, probably close to 100 cannons. Then vote on them to get rid of some. Then vote again to find the overall winner.

By then you probably have 10 cannons or so that are really up there with the votes, but one just sneaked past with a few more, and that automatically makes it the favorite cannon of the site.

Which even then is quite a broad subject. Something like 'the Most Influential Cannon of Spudfiles' would be a better competition.

I really don't know what this competition is going to accomplish, and remember that 5000 of that 6000 probably haven't visited the site since they joined, let alone made a post.

At the end of the day (well month) all we have is a cannon that's been voted the most favourite, so what? Doesn't accomplish much, at least if it was an inspirational competition, new members could get inspired from it and it's runner ups.
