OMFG what is his problem
The only good thing about those is the piston, if he thinks we should pay 80 bucks for that, he's gotta be kidding himself. The tee and bushings probably totals to around 15 bucks max.

Doesn't he just use 3" Solid PVC Rod for the piston with a few O-Rings? Cheaper things should work just as well.
$115-36=$79 Profit! That's a 319% Markup!
P.S. I made a decent piston discovery, some prescription bottles fit nicely in certain pipe sizes. I found one bottle (Not mine, dog medicine) that fits perfectly in 2" pipe, 1 layer of duct tape makes it too big, the fit is perfect.

PLEASE READ CAREFULLY BEFORE COMPLAINING! I think it's the build time he's charging for. If you notice all the pics, his valve's are nice and clean, no flaus, all screws are straight. Think about it, it takes some time to get all these details just rite, or the product isn't up to standerd, there for a waste of time. I know in my lawnmower repair bussiness, it can be very costly to make even a small mistake half way through the job, and to have to go over it again from the start is wasted time that i can't afford to waste when i have house hold bills to pay. A wasted hour for me can mean the differance between eletric or a meal!

A chamber sealing piston valve in a T works just aswell if not better if i recall from a past post and not to mention it cost about 1/10th of the price all the supah valve has going for it is alot of hype and easy to use/install but i like building things you get a good feeling when u spend a bit of time making something and it works great.

the hell you do, my lathe is 94 years old, i only have the basic tools (cutters, drill bits) and i can turn a supah out easy, infact, i'm working on one in the near future.SpudStuff wrote:you would need qutite a large fully tooled metal lathe with a 5 inch 4 jaw chuck. plus no one has ever shown photos of the inner workings
also, i'd use a 3 jaw chuck, better for holding round parts, and centering a 4 jaw is a royal pain in the ass
also, you're not just paying for a bunch of PVC fittings, you're paying for a hand built valve that he pressure tests before he sends them out, that takes alot of time to do, so you're really paying for safety and workmanship as well.

I feel like I'm the only one who still has a brain sometimes. If you would have paid more attention, the Supah IS a chamber sealing valve, numbnutz.A chamber sealing piston valve in a T works just aswell if not better if i recall from a past post and not to mention it cost about 1/10th of the price all the supah valve has going for it is alot of hype and easy to use/install but i like building things you get a good feeling when u spend a bit of time making something and it works great.
There's something called work time charges, as JRRDW pointed out. I'm pretty sure you would want to be paid for the hour and a half it takes to put one together.
Before you go on and bitch about how expensive it is, design one, build it, troubleshoot it, then rebuild it to look nice and clean. Then instead of bitching about it, maybe you'll understand why he charges how much he does.
I think why the cost comes as such a shock is because lets face it, we have resorted to using PVC pipe simply because of cost. (Mainly of course)
As some one said above, lets assume there IS a 80$ profit margin. And that the AVERAGE American makes ~12$, but because of natural greed we strive for more in the 15$ range. It must also be recognized that the supah business is rather choppy and so you need some money for the times you are sitting there without work. People pay for cosmetics and performance, you think your 80$ DC's cost even 5$ to make? Go bitch to ACE because they have about a 800% mark up on brass fittings. Below I will see his real "profit" margin...

115= Selling price
35= Assumed and esimated cost of parts
30= 2 hours of labor at 15$ a hour
I used to critize, but its America bitches. Surival of the fittest. So if your going to critize, for goodness sake SHOW YOUR SH*T. If you REALLY can provide the same or better product at a better price, what is restraining you from doing so? Alot of you remind me of Liberal assholes that will sit there and critize, meanwhile you do NOTHING.
Come from a expericenced veiw point... Dont be the reporter that says Iraq sucks, while the soliders that are fighting every day seem to have a completly different opion. You havent done anything to the littlest to back your claim, so as far as I go you all are a bunch of whinning street bums...

I was going to come argue this... but everyone else has already made the points that I would make.
