why not make something that shoots ping-pong balls?

ive thought about this in the past, and a ping-pong ball (by itself) is light enough and has enough air resistance that if launched at around 400 FPS it should be safe to be hit by.......

not saying it will out-range anyones AEG, but hell, your shooting PING PONG BALLS!

to be honest, leave the airsoft shotgun to the Grenade Shells......

Heres a concept i designed a while ago. I put in captions for you guys. Its probably over complicated, but its my take on the problem and the concept could be employed onto something more practical. Im open to criticism if you dont think itl work

I've never heard of an "M1000" before, but it sounds like about half a pound of *magic dust* to me.
DYI these M1000 he seaks of are just some larger sized firecrackers
(i think)
I see them in the store all the time and are completely legal, and only a have a few milligrams of this magic dust you speak of.( what is this magic dust you speak of I am very intruged by this dust.)

Atleast this is what I think he is talking about correct me if im wrong.

Well if an M80 or M100 are anything to go by, an M1000 is a veritable bomb. All I can think of is that the naming schemes might be different.

The *magic dust* cannot be discussed here

Yes you are right the company that make these are just using the name M1000 to bring in more revenue. If there is a "real" M1000 I would be happy to find it. Yes and I know we are not allowed to speak of the secret magic dust.

I guess they're just wasting ink printing those pretty illustrated safety precautions on fireworks, aren't they?

But this is quickly veering off topic. I still think that, for long range, a triggered cannister type round is the best idea. You could even have it trail some sort of tail (flour, perhaps?), and rig it up to a remote controlled device so you can trigger it whenever you want to. In this case, a cannister of BBs surrounding an oxy/propane balloon could achieve the desired effect, if the round was big enough.

ok, so this just literally popped into my head... Maybe you have a corded line attached to the round... with like little knots in it so you can make it go certain distances... the cord is attached to the round and when the cord stops, the shell pulls through itself which would release its contents... if you don't follow me, let me know so i can make a quick paint pic.

^he just though of what I thought of on another thread

now I don't think it's imposible, but what you need is stored energy to launch the bbs, or a good in flight delivery system

heres some Idea's I had
http://www.spudfiles.com/forums/new-pne ... 10231.html
it's pretty good but needs a 3" barrel gun, and I never perfected a prototype, you can try it the concept is sound you get plenty of energy from the air presure

current crude concept in development possibly usable for airsoft bbs

the lower the name with "M" fireworks the more powerful they are, the higher the number the less powerful they are. m1000 are extremely weak like whipper snappers (the firework that you throw at each other)

But yeah its against the rules.

Anyways enough talking about fireworks and the rules and lets figure out ways to do it pneumatically.

You could have a round that has air inlets that suck up air in flight and after a certain time it either opens or releases the bbs.

So how do you explain that an M100 has a larger charge than an M80?

I'm not sure how well most of the ideas presented so far would do in an actual airsoft combat situation. The one I suggested could be used with actual wires trailing behind the projectile connected to an ignition, so that the shooter can set off the round whenever he wants. It wouldn't be incredibly easy to build, and would probably require a relatively wide bore (6" or so), but it would be downright ferocious in a game of airsoft, while having little to no chance of actually hurting someone.

My idea is more simplistic.
HUGE bore combustion gun, maybe 3in. The shell is made of cellophane, with 2-3000 bbs loaded in it. The charge is an m80 or m100. The cool thing with it, that the combustion chambers are threaded so it can be screwed on. I'm going to design a trigger that can be pulled by a spring n string system. Maybe the fuse could have phosporous in it so that the light and smoke makes it a tracer of sorts?

Wow, you managed to break 3 discussion rules with one post. Someone give this man a cookie.

So, to sum it up, you're talking about firing incendiary, explosive shrapnel rounds at people in an airsoft match? Great idea you got there. No sane person would ever allow the use of something like that.

Not incendiary, not high explosive, and it certainly anything that no ne hasn't talked about on this thread so far. Well their are no lethal shrapnel rounds. And who said firing at people, maybe during a game but not nessecarily at people!

1. Phosphorus on the round? Sounds pretty incendiary to me.

2. Over 15g of flash powder in the round? Not a high explosive, but with a deflagration velocity of over 2 km/s, it might as well be.

3. I don't know about you, but I wouldn't want to be on the wrong end of a BB that just got propelled by 15g of flash powder. Judging by how little airsoft rounds weigh, and the approximately 0.15mol of 4000*K KCl gas produced by an M80, this thing could be somewhat dangerous.
