Hey, I am gone after a long break, I was at home depot today and walking past the PVC isle I was inspired again. But not for a big PVC gun, I want a Mini, Like JSR's but not the same. I don't wanna copy. I am working on sketches now, I am hoping that the length does not exceed 8", Obviously piston actuated, But I always run in the same problem when working with pistons.....The sealing face.. It always pops on me, The only neoprene available in my area is the thing's that cover beer cans. But hopefully since the barrel will be small I won't have to run in that problem.

Thanks, I'll do that for sure, If I were to use a 4.5 barrel, what would a good air tank be? Just so you know this is a coaxial we are talking about.Mr.Sandman wrote:if i were you i would go for maximum penetration and buy a 4.5 mm peice of brakeline so i could shoot pointed pellets and bbs

well a 1/2 tank would be fine. or if you wanted really good power you could use 3/4 or 1 inch

yep but eventually someone will ruin it oh well
For a good 1/2 Inch piston, A marker cap with a little bit of a basketballs rubber works great!

Dang... I was thinking that design over with the 4.5 barrel and 1/2 tank and found out it won't work on the scale I wanted.. I wanted one that I could actuate with the schrader valve, But I don't think it'll work with a 1/2 tank, I was aiming for a Smaller cannon anyway, I didn't want the pilot to standout to much on it, so I don't want to use a ball valve. Any Ideas?

You should make it servisable like I did it makes it ALOT easier to fix the piston and I also suggest you make it out of metal you will be disapointed if you make a high pressure pump I know that the pvc can hold it but you will feel safer.

You can tell how awesome a cannon is by the pressure used.

Maybe you could try to make your own schrader valve. Gipetto's Easy Shockpump how to has a 3/4" version, and I've just made a 1/2" version of it using copper. You could open it mannualy just by pushing it open (if you can press it down hard enough) to pilot your gun. And since you seem to be able to "unsolder" copper pipe pretty easy, it would be servicable without threads.
Also, you could:
-Chop off a blowgun's barrel so it's shorter
-Maybe use a pop-off valve
-Drill out a schrader for better flow?
I know I've seen piston valves that pilot on just a schrader; for some reason my 2" piston valve did this once (It had sucky power though ) I'd give the schrader a go.
For the sealing face, I recently found these little washers at Home Depot that are metal with a neoprene face on one end. I recently upgraded my piston valve with one of these, and it seals great!
