Just another, but slightly bigger, coppergun

Hello. As I have played around with copperguns a bit, I have become quite fond of high pressure ( ). Now i thought it was time to scale things up a bit. You might notice that this is about the same setup as my previous copper launcher, just slightly bigger
I'll do this the same way as allways, write some specs, post some pictures, generally not write a whole lot, but leave it to you guys if you have any questions
The valve is 1" porting, the barrel is 2.5m of 28mm copper (25,6mm ID), the chamber is 1m of 1" galv. steel and the operating pressure is 500psi.
Im sorry i dont have any damage pics yet, but this thing is just too loud to fire in a suburban backyard.

Looks like a close to ideal way to put that fridge compressor of yours to good use. The piston could be a tad heavy and I might aim that pilot forward with a brass elbow...just to help keep the high pressure pilot blast away from my body parts...

Otherwise, looks downright brutish. High pressure, long barrel....if you keep your ammo fairly light, you looking at some serious velocity out of this thing.

Actually i bought a brass elbow as you described today, just didnt remember to put it on before i took the pictures Youre right, the piston is a bit heavy, but it was my lightest alternative for something that wouldnt wreck under the high pressure

The wood piston looks well made, I can't see it failing, even at 500 psi. Just out of curiosity though, what size is the tee that houses the piston?

A silencer for a high pressure launcher of these proportions would probably have to be the size of a small person, wich is why i gave up on that before i even began.

The tee is 2".

It isnt really possible to limit the pilot to one bushing, as i use the 1½" thread on the inside of the valve, and because my acces to fittings is very very limited in the country i live in

A silencer is indeed impossible for a launcher this size with these pressures, but you could make one to reduce most of it.

How long does it take for your FC to pump it to 500psi? Or do you have a pre-charged tank?

This launcher is so heavy that its barely handleable, a silencer would probably add enough weight to push it over the edge to not-so-handheld-anymore
I precharge it to 8 bar using a normal compressor, and from there it takes about 3 minutes to charge it to 500psi using my fridge compressor

Could you post specs of your piston valve I was trying to build something similar (2" tee) but I turned out that it really difficult to build a piston valve with malleable iron fittings

Well about those fill times, they are a rough estimate as i often do something else while i fill my launcher, so i dont really notice how long it takes. But from 0 to 300psi i gues it would take about 3 minutes or so..

The valve is just a 2 inch tee with a 2>1" bushing on one side and a 2>1½" on the other, and 60mm nipple screwed on the inside, with the piston running inside the 1½". Hope that made sense, kinda hard to explain because im not really sure on the names of the fitting

that made sense and i know what you mean - explaining these things in english is a real pain in the ass I've been trying to build something similar but it had problems with finding a fitting that would house a piston... either it was not smoth enough... making an all steel gun sucks whan you don't have acces to a lathe.... I am looking forward to see dammage pics

try shooting 120 g bolts - they had more than enough power for my 1/2" QEV gun so I think they'd be ideal for your gun

BTW do you use any cooling for your firdge pump ? I've recently find out that air cooling works fine for prolonged use/abuse
