Just out of interest, what languages do people on here know.

English is the only language I speak properly, I know a very small amount of French (from school) I couldn't get on with the teacher so found that very hard to learn, and I am currently learning Norwegian, Jeg forstar lit Norsk.

It is hard to understand people when they talk in a language that you can understand, but aren't fluent in, because they talk quite fast and it takes a second or two to work out each work, at least thats what I have found

I can grind my way through reading most Germanic languages, and supposedly passed GCSE French with a B, but I'm only truly fluent in four languages.

1) English
2) Bad English, learnt from reading too many forum posts and youtube comments. :P (This includes 1337 speak)
3) Most BASIC computer languages, but that's pushing it a bit.
4) Lupica, a language I created myself - it's designed to be a practically unbreachable code language which I use for writing things I don't want other people to read. It doesn't use conventional characters; all letters have very similar appearance rates (and most letters have at least 3 variants); it has no regular verbs; has no written equivalents for "the", "a", pronouns or several other words that might make decryption easier; and it's specifically designed to be a nightmare.
It is also a spoken language, but I use it mostly for cursing. :D

Two other people can sort of understand it in it's spoken form (and four have worked out the odd word or two), but the written form is still a secret to me alone.
Does that thing kinda look like a big cat to you?
