What do you guys think of using this this type of fitting as a chamber for combustion rifles.
The screws would be put into the top and the barrel would be the same kind of pipe used with the fitting.
The other opening would stick out of the side of the rifle and can be opened or closed for fuelling.
I was thinking a rifled barrel with a simple breech loader and the foam ammo that I use. All this mounted on a stock.

Yes they are. These sort of fittings have the removable faceplate so that you have points along the circuit where you can open up the piping and inspect the wiring. They dont really need to be that long to work as a chamber.
The only design flaw would have to be how one would open and close the fuelling port since they are not threaded.
Tomorrow I am going to buy different types of these(spherical/rectangular) and see what I come up with.
In the meantime I need suggestions on how to open and close that port in a sensible way.

I hate to be the broken record on safety, but as you know these arent used for pressure situations... Not to mention that huge flat surface the pressure will be acting on. Sounds intresting, but I defintly would recommend testing first (Safe enviroment) because they look a bit iffy if it would work. This could be a big help for people trying to acheive a "rifle" look with there guns, as you have stated.
you could always epoxy it shut and spray paint it for looks
in the upcoming presidential election, there will be several candidates who will be running, one of whom is Hillary Clinton. Now WAIT A SECOND!!! I though there was some sort of rule that prevented someone from serving more than two terms in office. Vote Against Hillary: Presidential Elections 08
Pimpmann I do understand that these fittings are probably not the best choice and I will be testing them using remote ignition first, however I have personally handled such fittings and believe they are made from stronger stuff then pill-bottles.
A ball valve is a bit too big to have sticking out the side of the gun. I was thinking more of a spring operated cover that slides over the opening any ideas on how this can be acheived?
