How to get a bushing out of a coupler.

The piston on my gun isn't sealing very well so I want to take my gun apart to fix it. The problem is that the bushing is totally jammed into the coupler. And to add to it I had wrapped 1 layer of duct tape around the bushing so it would hold the pressure. Now I can't get it out, which is a big problem because I can't even get it to 40 psi because it leaks out the barrel too much and I need a bumper for my piston because it's going to knock my shrader valve out. So, I really need to know how to get it out. I've tried using a wrench. It didn't work too well because I don't have a big enough one for the 3" pipe. I also tried hammering it and my brother helped me try and pull it apart but nothing worked. Any ideas? I really, really want to get it to work right.

You need to heat up the outside of what you want to get apart. Wrap a boiling hot rag around it, (so you keep the heat were you need it), wait a minute or two then try pulling it apart. The heat will expand the pipe on the outside so you can get the inner pipe out.

K, I'll try the boiling rag idea, but I'll have to wait for my dad or brother to get home to help me pull it still. It won't permanently expand the coupler, will it?

Try capping the barrel and charging the gun, the barrel might just fly off.
I doubt this will work, maybe if you get the duct tape wet it'll lose some of it's grip.

My piston doesn't seal, so I can't blow it off.

I can't cap the barrel. Everything else is glued except for the piece of 1" pipe leading to the sprinkler valve.
EDIT: I just realized that I could probably smack a broom handle around down there and try to shove it out.

Try wiggling the barrel back and forth until it comes loose.
We need to know specifically what part is stuck.

If I'm not mistaken shrimphead is not trying to get his barrel off. He is trying to get his piston out.

I'm trying to get my piston out by knocking the barrel off. This is how it is. It's a coax barrel sealing piston gun. The reducer from the chamber to the barrel is stuck in the coupler. Getting that reducer off is the only way to get the piston out (besides sawing the gun) because the other fittings are glued. I'm so upset now because me and my dad did the broom handle thing and just knocked a pretty hole through my piston!!!!
I was worried when I heard a jingling sound. Then my dad tipped the gun and the piece of threaded rod fell out with both nuts and lock washers still on. We should have tried the boiling rag, then banging it. Now I'm probably just left with sawing the gun and making it 6 inches shorter! Not to mention fixing my piston which took forever to make!
