As long as we don't post questionable test things up here we should be fine. I should have a new batch of 40mm STRIFE rounds by then using the new water resistant chemicals and with a closed nose cavity.

HAHA, you will get a good chance to learn the inner workings building it Ragnarok. Save me the trouble off assembling it. I will package it smartly so you have the right pieces in a useful order.

What about you JSR? Should I send yours in "kits" too?

You guys are lucky bastards. FREE Eclipses, I'm astounded.

Not like I have a use for one, anyway.

That's actually a very good point - there's only going to be so much can be suggested by seeing the exterior workings, I was probably going to need to see internals at some point.

But now it sounds like it's going to be like one of those build your own RC car/helicopter/model train magazines where you get a couple of pieces a week with a magazine, and at the end you've got something you can almost use, and you're stuck waiting in mild frustration for the parts in the last two issues so you can use it. These almost always include something essential - like the wheels.

I've never had one of those magazines, but I know how they work. Usually by charging you about five times what the actual model you're making is worth, but by the time you realise you're being ripped off, you've got half a car, and you stick with it. Very clever.

No, we're know-it-alls.

At least, that's why Solar said he was talking to me - because I was a total and utter nerd who knew a ridiculous amount about the subject, and had no life outside of this forum... and that was exactly the kind of person he wanted to talk to.

Or words to that effect. I think he was slightly nicer about JSR. :D

As far as I know, from the forum, it's just JSR and me who Solar has talked to with relation to this.

The site is kinda blah... no frills. I wouldn't call it exactly free... I am hoping that these guys can devote some serious time to evaluating and testing.

I guess I should ask Ragnarok and JSR if anyone in the States were to get one, who it should be. I can't really afford throwing thousands of dollars in launchers everywhere, but so far the exchanges have been beneficial. Getting user data other than..."yup, it shoots good" needs to be a reality. I am way too busy designing the latest toys and am in need of data quickly.

I owe a couple more to people and have also used them in trades for boxes of oem parts and things like that. Sold a few so far, but I have been hoarding the bulk of them for the military field testing. Soon we will have a lot of media coverage (TV shows, Video game) and have to be ready for full tilt production of thousands if things continue as planned.

The Eclipse is the test bed for the next generation high end (read: $$$) launchers for the military and police. The Eclipse is being developed into a pure belt feeder system for mounted use and the other new design is a cased/case-less ammo magazine well system for gas and STRIFE rounds. The Eclipse has been tested to 600psi with the triggering system regulated to 350psi to achieve firing. Using a high pressure trigger at 600psi should yield near 1200psi for firing pressures which is the design spec for the launcher. Destructive testing has yet to happen. Not sure I am ready for the task safety wise here even though I am going with the theory that the o-rings will be the first to go. I was hoping the Mythbusters could help me out a little with that and get some high speed camera shots of operation too.

Naturally, you're certainly not running a charity here. If you think the export hassle isn't worth it there are a couple of names I would recommend, however as I said I'd be willing to foot the postage bill and in case a license doesn't go through then the launcher will be returned to you at my expense.

Not any more it doesn't - Fixed. :P

Like JSR says, you've obviously got to get a healthy return out of doing something like this.

But as things go, you're asking me to do what I love - launching and analysing things. Why would I be doing anything else? Well, other than eating, sleeping, listening to rock music, and other things I have to do to live.

Oh, and I've been booked into a friend's birthday party since about 5 years ago. I'll have to go to that - it happens every year, no excuses allowed. That's another thing I have to do that to live, because she will kill me if I miss it, my extra-human endurance notwithstanding.

...Why is it that all the people I know called Jo are crazy people with a penchant for violence and who wouldn't blanch from killing me over a minor transgression? Seriously. All of them.
I guess I should ask Ragnarok and JSR if anyone in the States were to get one, who it should be.
Oh dear, you're determined to make them hate us, aren't you?
If not for our opportunity to get involved, because they think we had a part in denying them an opportunity to get involved.

However, like JSR, there are a couple of names I could recommend.

you know I think you could succede if you order the launcher disassembled in several parts... all sent to different adresses... use your relatives or friends... (uhmm I hope you know what I mean by 'use' :D )

it might 'look' less suspicious than sending them all to one adress... at least there won't be any link between different packages so that should do

Look if it is a paintball gun, and you will use it as one, then they better belive it, i mean you are doing nothing illigal and so they should let the gun pass, if it is properly packed and referenced and stuff that is!

Emphasis on the SHOULD.
They should let legal things through - but they don't always. They'll stop things for whatever half-arsed reason they like.

I believe it could work - but shipping it in parts kills any uncertainty, and means I get a good look at the insides and workings as it goes together.

@ solar:
Are you independent, or with a company? There's a low chance of it being adopted by the police even with a company.

Even so, if it's intended for the police,Taser rounds would be great. They fit it all in a 12 gauge shell, so it would be pretty easy with that large of a bore (size constraints wise).

rp181: I have my own company and work with others in the field. We are well on our way to having the doors open for us. I can't disclose who, where or why, but I have been asked to design some specific features that no other launching system (pneumatic or otherwise) has. I should mention that my family has a long history of top secret clearance and military weapon creation. My late father and brothers built everything from the prototype B-17 bomber ball turret to nuclear warheads, cruise missiles, recoilless cannon shells, fighter parts, apache rotary guns, etc.

I am Tony Stark... 8)
