Probably getting a drill press for christmas. Something in the $150-300 range.
Any recommendations from a Canadian store?
Here are a few retailers I was looking at:

Mastercraft tends to be good quality, I have some stuff from them and it's great. I've never used a Mastercraft drill press though, so Idk how well it translates.

Try Harbor Freight tools. I got my press for $40 on sale. Plus, they carry a $50 mill vice for drill presses so you can use it as a mill. I'm getting that for Christmas.

Completed projects:

Have you tried Busy Bee Tools?
http://busybeetools.ca/cgi-bin/product1 ... 4082167653
They sell the "Craftex" brand of tools.
My dad purchased a 12"X36" gear head lathe, and a 1 1/2hp Knee mill a couple of years ago. (If only he lived closer eh!)
The machinery is heavily built, (read light industrial) and very good value for the dollar.
IMHO lightweight tools are fine for occasional hobby use, but heavy tools do a much better job, and last a lifetime or more.
I'll take good old cast iron over aluminum any day.
