To answer you last question: No tests would not be compareable! Make your own ballistics gel you can get everythign you need in you local supermarket. I understand correctly that you will cast you ammo, please tell us how this went, maybe make a how to.

Y'know, I'm going to stack up three or so yellow pages and find out tomorrow.

How do you know your cannon was only using 18psi?

This is probably abit late, but i tried shooting coins with my crappy ball valve pneu.
2L chamber, 3/4in ball valve, 1/2in barrel, at ~40psi. Ball valve hand opened, un lubricated.c Projectile is a 3/8 bolt with head cut off, and the end ground down to a point.
I fist shot a nickle, the coin bowed ~45 degrees. A quarter resulted in bending of almost 90 degrees, and when i shot a penny, a whole quarter of the penny shot off. I took pics, but i need to wait till other comp is available to post them.
