Harness the power of precision mixtures of pressurized flammable vapor. Safety first! These are advanced potato guns - not for the beginner.

Don't give up and close that 3 mm gap down further to 1 mm or less if you can.

Manometric metering shouldn't be all that hard. If you're adding everything to the right extents, the problem is, like starman suggests, almost certainly with the ignition.

Just to let you know, venerable (old/wizened, and by it somewhat impressive) and vulnerable (at risk or harm or damage) are rather different in meaning.
Does that thing kinda look like a big cat to you?

Your spark should be fine using what you are using. All my Hybrids fire with a BBQ ignitor up to 9x, with around a 1mm gap.

Get a syringe and some Butane, load the fuel directly through the ball valve from the syringe. Has worked for me every time.

Good luck.

3 mm gap?
3x9 = 27 mm
Thats over an inch. Can your spark jump that on atmospheric pressure?
You certainly need to close the gap to less then one mm.

And for gods sake, NEVER, EVER look down the barrel of a loaded gun, even when its "just" 200 psi and a burst disk. If the disk failed and its shrapnel gets blown in yer face, well, you'll have a bad day.
