The supplies for a golf ball barrel I ordered came in today from the local plumbing supplier. Problem is that the Sch80 pipe is about as straight as a wet noodle. I didn't know this until it had been paid for and cut down into 10ft lengths so no return. I am thinking about warming it with a torch and trying to work the bends out. Any ideas on how to fix this mess?

Aren't you going to sleeve the Sch 80 with 1.5" SDR 21? That will keep it straight.

Thats what I had thought, the kinks are bad enough that i got the SDR 21 about 2 ft in and heard a "pop" puled it out and it had cracked and lost a chunk.

I think you should return it. The pipe shouldn't be that badly bent. Even if they cut it to a custom length for you, it doesn't sound very satisfactory.

I'll have to call, they are a industrial supplier and get a bit irritated by dealing with Joe public. I got the feeling they gave me the worst one they had, sure hope it wasn't the best!

Could you take a picture of the pipe?

They'll probably end up blaming it on the postal service anyway.

Sorry my picture hosting site is giving me lip. I just hacked off a few feet from the broken SDR 21 going to cut the worst of the bend off and try to make a shorty barrel after warming it up with a torch.

Keep in mind, you don't have to sleeve the entire length of the sdr-21, the first couple feet will do fine.

That's pretty funny. I usually use the sched 80 2" to straighted the wet noodle SDR21 1.5"!!..

The kicker is that the sdr 21 is straight as an arrow, its the sch80 thats bent.

Thats how i thought it'd go too. I would be laughing right along with you if the sch 80 weren't so much more expensive.

You could try jamming the SDR21 as far as you can into it, then start heating up the parts where it gets stuck, and try and push it through. Since it's only an outer shell for a barrel, heating it up should be fine.

I am sure that i could get the two pipes together with some heat, the problem is that i would really prefer to have a barrel that is straight. Aside from looks I would like to be able to aim the thing with some degree of accuracy.

Do you think the SDR21 might not straighten the Sch80 and instead make the SDR21 bent? That is a possibility. Just return it then I guess.
