Just looking through a catalog I got in the mail and found these little gems. Thought I would share them with all you good folks. Flechettes
Oh wow, I read about these, aren't they against the Geneva convention?
I would totally buy these if I lived in America... Not for use in a shotgun, but maybe like the reviews say in a pellet gun, or maybe in a 3/4 inch spud gun (3/4 is about as close to 12 gauge you can get with pipes)
I wouldn't fire em out of plastic barrels though... I tried something similar in one of my minis, made of a fish hook, and it hit the side, punctured and pierced right through the thin plastic wall
almost attached my hand to my gun... scary.

I have been half thinking about building a mini or bbmg. I may make something just to fire these. The price for 950 rounds is fantastic.
They may ship internationally. If I were you I would try an internet order just to see.sputnick wrote:I would totally buy these if I lived in America... I would, but the likelihood of that being the case would be slim I imagine, for a site that sells ammunition, I doubt they would have a system for international orders for only cases like this...
Coincidentally, Me and a friend of mine were talking about homemade flechette ammo only a few days ago, We were thinking along the lines of finishing nails either hammered flat at one end, or with a small plastic fin on one end, simple and cheap enough to make dozens at a time, yet still effective, we never actually put the thought into motion, because we have no practical need for any *special forbidden purpose* ammo now... its winter, all our *targets* went south.

Your right, I just checked it out. Although they sell all sorts of non firearm related gear they wont even send catalogs outside the U.S.

I made a how to on making mini flechette like darts long ago but I can't find it not even on the advanced search tool. 950 a pound? Can't have too much muzzle energy per flechette have to be fired quick. Still have good penetration though.
You can tell how awesome a cannon is by the pressure used.

I found those about a year back and bought a pound. Never got a chance to use them but they are nasty looking little things, and very good quality. I'd say its a good buy, especially since they're pretty cheap.
As a side note, I also bought a a large military backpack from there. Probably one of the best $60 dollar buys of my life. Great for school, travel and spudding. Just throwing that out there incase any one be in the backpack market.

Pretty cool!
I wonder what they'd do fired from a 3000 psi burst disk or piston valve at about 1.5" diameter barrel.
Maybe one pound of those.
Course crossbow bolts or arrows might work better.

I am thinking about building a cartridge to fire these from my combustion. No were near 3000psi but it should be entertaining. If i get the cartridge working properly I'll buy the ammo.THUNDERLORD wrote:Pretty cool!

I've got a fletchette round for my spudgun.
Launches about twenty 75mm x 3mm stabilised stainless steel tipped darts.
Costs a little but each individual dart can penetrate up to about 3cm in unseasoned wood at full pressure or 1cm in seasoned hardwood. Needs a pair of pliers to extract the dam things again but at full pressure ~240psi they disintegrate on impact and there's usually just the steel tip hammered into the target left.

I was thinking of making the burst-disc cartridge from a spent 88 gram c02 cartridge,Combustion Monkey wrote:I am thinking about building a cartridge to fire these from my combustion. No were near 3000psi but it should be entertaining. If i get the cartridge working properly I'll buy the ammo.
Then maybe pipe a full 88 gram cart. into a pressure washer handle.
It would need a thick unseamed brass, steel or aluminum barrel though.
I bet it would have a bit of recoil if one pound shot was fired.
I've been drooling over 3000 psi carbon fiber tanks for paintball.
course nitrogen or helium in that range or above has been readily available all along...

EDIT:
Heck the m-203 part got me thinking is all......experimental flechette rounds for the M203 grenade launcher and the 12-gauge shotgun.
