piston help

i need help with my piston valve im making, ive read alot of the howto and there is one thing im not clear on, how much space should there be between the actual piston and the inside of the tee? none or a little, and how much space needs to be around the part of the barrel that goes into the piston.

I'm guessing your talking about the space between the piston and it's guide pipe. You want it to be minimal as possible.

" and how much space needs to be around the part of the barrel that goes into the piston." Uhm, I think your talking bout the sealing face and how far it goes into the tee, if you look down through the vertical part, you should see a midway line, it should go right to there.

Try to reword what your saying.

i get there needs to be little space, but does there have to be any space at all? becuase then i dont see how air will get on both sides of the pison

There shouldn't be any visible space, but your piston should slide easily. If you are using o-rings you will have to make an equalization hole. I don't quite understand your second question.

sorry ill be clearer, i am not using orings, and should i have space or no space at all and an equalization hole?

Air will always get around it because it is almost impossible to get a perfect seal unless you use o-rings. You shouldn't be able to see any space, and you don't need an equalization hole

ok thanks alot for that, and not to bug you but ive seen pistons with springs to force them against the barrel thats not needed right?

If you are filling the gun from the back of the piston it is not needed.

Springs won't be needed, If your having trouble getting a good seal use duct tape and and make sure there's no ripples or anything. It will work great for a good # of shots then you'll have to replace it. You won't need an equalization hole so don't worry about it. Here's a few helpful links,
