These are easier versions of my hammer designs. Basically a tee, 2 endcaps, piston and a spring and thats it. It will be pretty hard to completely seal but definately possible. Im going to make this soon so ill tell you how it goes. Im goin to take the hammer mechanism out of a metal cap gun and also use that uninterupted barrel design for loading, thanks atlantis. What do you guys think? The second one has that washer next to the endcaps edges so that all the air doesnt come out, like a makeshift regulator kinda thing. Which do you think is better? I hope to get quite a few shots off but at 160psi Im not too sure. Its only going to be 1/4 or maybe 1/2 inch barrel and quite a large resorvoir. It will be all steel (galvanised) and use brass fittings. I just like the look of brass, gold :) ..... Any input appreciated, thanks.

If you put a ball valve between the chamber and the hammer valve then you could get allot of shots out of that. Especially if you use co2.I like your second idea more and if you can get that smaller chamber befor the barrel to seal when you push the rod then it will use up all the air from there and when the rod comes back the small chamber will refill for the nest shot.

Thats a good idea putting a ballvalve on it. Maybe if the ball valve was only partially opened it would get a lot more shots out as it would act as a regulator but not let the pressure drop too fast? The second idea is my favorite too.

Why would you want a regulator?Just open the ball valve to pressurize the valve the close it again when you want to shoot. Mabey you can make that process automated.

The second idea will not work because it will seal after the first shot and you would have to push back a large surface area under pressure. You are using a reverse schrader valve in both designs. They might not seal properly.

idea 1 is the same kind of vavle in paintball guns and i think it would work just fine. idea 2 should work but it would have to have a very strong spring on it to counter the large surface area of that piston/disc thing. and then tere is always the posibility of acsedental firering if the springs aren't strong enuf.

Yeah thats true, I might try to redesign slightly. Brian the brain you have given me an idea abouth the schader valve. Maybe I could hooked up some kind of hammer to that and it would be a ready made valve? It would be easier than making it from scratch. Thanks.

Just keep in mind that with that design with a 1/2" barrel, to close the valve against 100psi in the chamber that spring well have to push with about 78lbs of force.

Thats a lot better, thanks OwThatsMyEye. Only problem is can you get solid endplugs/caps? You caould probrably make a wall to seal it. I see what you guys mean about this particular design that the piston being on the outside is going to need a VERY strong spring. Maybe Ill redesign it and getback to you guys, the piston on the inside would be better. Thanks.

You a can't get solid end caps per say, but you can get a solid piece of PVC round stock from McMaster.
