Hi guys,

I'm new here, Google show me the path to this wonderful community 8)

I thought I could say a few words about me. I am an amateur machinist, with a thing for miniature… and cannons. I also have a powerful Diana spring gun.

I'm currently moving my machinist equipment in a new basement (Sherline lathe and mill) and while I am far away for my dear metal chips, I thought maybe my next project would be a handgun using compressed air. I don’t know much about it right now, and I am learning since a few days, reading forums threads and how-to. I may have some strange ideas, because I will certainly attach more importance in the look and small size than power, still I have some hope to make a shiny looking and powerful PCP 6 shooter machined out of brass and aluminum stock. My ultimate goal would be to fire steel darts out of it. Well, that’s the dream ;-)

Surely I'll need to bother a few of you with silly questions in a while!

I am also a native French language speaker, which explains the weird accent. If you need translation from French forums or websites (and I can see French are also very active), I’ll be glad to help.

Cheers.

I'm sure you could accomplish some nice things with precision equipment like that. While pcp pressure may be a little high for a beginning gun co2 may be in your reach. Have a look at solars eclipse for some ideas.

If you want small and compact, You will need high pressure and a hammer valve to achieve multiple shots.

I love compact guns myself:, I've been called a compactness freak before.
I'm Dutch btw, from Les Pays Bas...

Although its a bb machine gun, it's still quite small...

Bienvenue a la forum!!

My current idea is to use separate PCP chambers, like an oversized Brocock cartridge :-) I am still working on the numbers, it seems to me that I could reach very high pressure if I keep it small. But what is the minimum volume of air I need to fire some projectile (.177 pellet or bigger), I still have no idea!

Thanks for the welcome, nice looking Uzi gun :-)

Welcome LeMaudit. :)

There is a handy software tool many around here use, called ggdt (Gas Gun Design Tool). You can use it to model your design and adjust various parameters.

Find it here;

I have always wanted to see a machinist make a semi-auto 50x hybrid bowling ball shooter that is handheld  .

You might want to consider something like http://www.swanstrom.net/petes/shoot/autobb.htm

Convert the block to say aluminum, turn a nice efficient piston ...
