Looks like you found the right length/weight combination to achieve that "magic number" for flight stability.
The skirt tubing end, held up quite well.
Looking forward to pneumatic operation! HINT HINT

I think you have a real winner with this round. Great performance for the dollar.
You guys never fail to impress. 8)
Any plans for additional bore sizes??

Very impressive.
I second the request for other calibers, SCH 40 1.5" and 2" in particular since those are so common.
Have you considered developing a parachute round?

I have had discussions with Mike about the same thing a few weeks ago.jimmy101 wrote: Have you considered developing a parachute round?
I too am looking forward to the "Urban Projectile"
Glad you picked steel over lead, because the pancaking lead made those other rounds worthless. These look awesome!

Great stuff, good to see that it survived impact with MDF too
Just a though, since you now have a projectile with a hollow tail, why not consider putting the fuel/air mix there and closing it off, along the same spirit of the rocket ball cartridge?
Benelli made a round on similar lines which they attempted to usein a submachinegun.
Basically you'd have all the advantages of a self contained cartridge, without the problem of having a mechanism to eject the cartridge. Power would be down compared to the current launchers but a semi/full auto launcher would be relatively simple to develop...

It will depend on the target. Using carpet or wood as a backstop I think you could re-use all day. Usually the failure point is the tail.spudtyrrant wrote: how many shots do you think the center drilled pucks will last
Yes. The 1.7 was nice because no modification to tail needed. We will probably thermo form applicable sized SDR-21 for the common bore sizes. I say we, but truth is USGF will probably build a robot.Gippeto wrote: Any plans for additional bore sizes??

The MDF still has the round embedded in it and hangs on the shop wall. I forgot to take a pic when I left on Saturday. Maybe USGF will take a photo and post for us.jackssmirkingrevenge wrote: Great stuff, good to see that it survived impact with MDF too

Tie on some glowsticks on the inside with mason line for some night tracer rounds. The pink and orange ones are great for states that don't allow fireworks that flies into the air (like Oregon). Did that one year and attracted all sorts of attention. It wasn't fireworks.jagerbond wrote:Supplies for the 4th. muhahaha

Forking hell, I take it there's been a bit of public interest

We need a thermal forming robot... USGF?
