Just thought I'd show off what i just picked up today... My local fastenal, has started stocking my favorite sizes in house... :D

1" steel balls for decimator and 1"guns

17/32"/.53125" for the copper cane, type L .5" is actually .54" id... these fit way better than .5" balls...

13/32"/.40625" for .40cal blowgun barrels...

all three of these have a snug enough fit that if I dip them in white lithium grease before loading, they won't try to roll out....

Worth trying in my book, saboted projectiles are a penetration multiplier that few folks really appreciate.

This for example was a 1/2" steel ball from a 3/4" barrel :D

Woah fore what was with the quote and fullstop. Not trying to be nasty but hope you're not trying to rack up spudbux and posts that way

Anyway, aren't those steel balls heavy at 62grams? Weight of projectile really gives a fps boost if lighter :D

Ah, but at the expense of sectional density. Imagine a ping pong ball and a golf ball fired out of the same launcher, the ping pong ball will leave the muzzler much faster but which would you rather be hit by at 10 metres?

This is the beauty of discarding sabot rounds, you're reducing the weight compared to a full calibre projectile but also decreasing the size, meaning it will fly faster for longer.

Froze, these are for damage, i use superballs for speed... besides, when you've gat a near 1000gr projectile moving at over 900fps, who cares if it ain't 1000fps... an abrams tank won't move near as fast as a ferrari, but I don't want to get hit by either at speed... :D

Alright, sorry for that no-brainer. I get what you mean :]
I'd rather get hit by a ping-pong ball! jeepkahn your example wasn't as effective cause both will KILL :D

I now see what good discarding sabot rounds do :]

Another example of the weight of projectiles is my q-tip rifle. God knows what it punched those things to, but it was no doubt bloody fast.

At 300 psi they will make a coke can (full of water) detonate at close to mid range, but if you move the range back (assuming you even hit the target) there is virtually no damage. They just slow down too fast.

Hence why I'm changing to marbles.. except the bloody things bounce!

So that ammo you use is for damage or speed?

Marbles are pretty hardy, drop them from the 6th floor and they just have minor scratches, but if you throw it hard at a wall a few times, they chip off.
There are those plastic like marbles available that dont really bounce, if im not wrong they're used in toys for the hit, not the bounce.

Thats the hardy one i mentioned, those glass ones crack much easily.

The weight might be a problem for you here though :?

marbles are good as projectiles but they have their limitations... I think you should stick to 9.5mm barrel and lead ammo
Children are the future

unless we stop them now
