Would people buy electric 2" T chamber sealing piston valves for ~$60 if I made them? Just a question.

judging by this, unless you miraculously increased your building skills, then your out of luck noname, not nearly neatly done enough or proffesionaly done to be sellable to the average builder. Also, for 30 dollars i bet BC pnuematic would build you one, ball valve and blowgun not included.

I really dont mean to be mean here, but lets compare

Image

theres a supah valve, not one messy part on it, completely clean, master machinist made. It has perfectly aligned screws drilled into perfectly round pvc stock, a perfectly clean tee, threaded inlets and outlets for easy changing. Some insanely superior design on the inside that anyone has figured out yet or atleast has posted.

Image

and here we have the last valve that noname attempted to sell.

Notice the messy primer job its all over the place, the icky gum looking substance i imagine is glue, the scrader valve squeezed into the side of it... no idea whats on the inside or how well it works.

Its good that you are making chamber sealing... your old diaphragm valve worked exactly like a sprinkler valve, except it was messy and more expensive (no offence :P ). A piston valve will definitely be more popular, for they are much better with bigger launchers than diaphragm valves are

Make sure to make this valve CLEAN.

Let me just see... your old 3/4" valve sold for $40... this new valve is 2", and it costs $60... that means that for our money, we are getting about 4.75X more performance... sounds like a MUCH better deal. Not only is it 2", there is only one 90 degree turn, instead of a 180 degree turn (as in your old sprinkler-valve-homemade-valve-thing. Also, this is a piston valve instead of a diaphragm, and, as explained above, pistons perform better than diaphragm valves in bigger cannons with longer barrels.

Everyone else: give him a break. We havent even seen the new valve yet. As I just showed above, this new valve should be a MUCH better deal.

But really... show us a picture

I'm asking whether anyone would buy any jeez. I never said I had one done (though I am working on one right now). These will be in 2" Ts with 1.5", 1.25", 1", 3/4", or 1/2" porting, or different sizes. I could do a 2" ported one but it would get big and ugly. All of them will be actuated be a 1/2" ball valve. I have clear primer and glue ready to go, plus pipe cleaner and white paint primer. And Mihlrad, that last one was the first one I ever made. No need to get all pissy over it. Plus, Joel has been making these how many years?

noname: If I asked you right now whether you would buy an SUV for 20,000, would you say yes right away? Probably not; you would need to know the mileage, model, year, fuel economy, etc, etc.

A 1996 jeep wrangler is a little bit different than a 2006 BMW X5 4.8 is, right? They are both SUV's... yet different

That little metaphor is why we need to SEE a picture of this valve

Anyway, I thought all of your valves were 2" ported... I didnt know that they were just based in a 2" tee... I have piston valves in a 2" tee with 1.5" porting that I could make a profit off of if I sold them for $35

a half inch ball valve is an obsurd waste of money for what you need it to do, you can use 1/4 inch ball valves, half inch is like 6-10 dollars each...

Noname, I think you can understand why some and I are formulating such a opinion. Usally apperance can be corrulated with reliabilty and performance. Why dont they duct tape your hub caps on? It would surely hold.

K it appears your bushing has is glued in and supported by the ~1/8th or so inch that sticks in. That in its self look both unpleasing and is not safe. Second you got blue glue everywhere, not even looking like it was disriputed in a organized manner. Third, you got looks like brown shit smeared around. Forth, looks like the blowgun was from the 60's. Dont take my non-beating the bush style to heart, rather that you have four things you need to fix.

A thing that BC and I had a discussion about. He put a gun for sale in his store. The dremel cuts on it were admitly horrible, but he said he would fix on the "next" cannon. In which my point was why dont you post the product when its in its finished-evolved stage? I as a customer sure as hell dont want you playing evolution with something Im considering on purchasing.

This hobby being mostly a do-it-yourself hobby you cant expect people to pay others a large sum of money for such. The key is to only slightly price your products over the cost of parts leaving some for labor. I think I could easily buy everything on that valve for 15$ so it would be good if such was priced at say 25$. Heck any other old spudder can pull that multi-colored valve, although the average couldnt produce something like the Supah on any level. Thats why people buy it!

Sorry if my words come as offensive, but I hope you would understand that I would rather tell the truth then lull you to the facts by beating the bush.

What the hell is that supposed to mean?! Just because the valve is bigger doesnt mean it's more expensive. There is no reason not to have a 1/2" valve you'll get twice the flow of a 1/4" valve.

In case you don't believe that a 1/2" is not any more expensive here is one for $5.99 which I believe is one the low end of your 1/4" valve pricing.

Also noname out of curiousity what are you making the piston out of that you are charging 60 dollars?
