Ok here is my idea for a simple delrin bolt for a semi auto *****(you fill in the blank) cannon. I was looking at all these paintball bolts that are made out of delrin, so I looked it up on ebay, and some commercail sites, for availibility, and tooling. It is easy to turn on a lathe, and yet very strong, lite and self lubricating, as well as small"scraps" are fairly cheap to buy. My thought was to bore it out in the middle, and then place a "plate" in the middle to allow the air to push it forward when the air is released, and use a spring to return it to the open bolt position. I looked around here for something like this, and did not find anything that was very close to it, but that does not mean that there is not a similar design, so if there is then shoot me the link, but I think that the delrin would be the perfect material for an open bolt semi auto.

SIMPLE DELRIN BOLT
I believe Clide did something like this.

I think the air is just gonna go around the plate and the bolt won't even move, look at Clide's design.

Ok I looked at the semi auto, and I will go over the plans again, I am going to make a semi auto if it kills me, either litterally, or I go broke! LOL I plam on using a 2in barrel, I am kinda hooked on this 200 caliber beast, and the final version will be CO2 fed. Well I guess is is back to the drawing board. Does the delrin at least sound like the right material?

The idea of a hollow bolt is neat, I actually did that a while back while making a paintball gun out of an old fire extenguisher and a tube off a stroller. I had a slightly smaller tube that slid slightly loosely in the tube, and cut a slot in the bigger tube for a bolt to stick out the side to slide the smaller tube (the actual bolt) back and forth to let paintballs drop in. It worked like crap, but if you could get it machined just right it would be cool.
Well That is still cool Pryrogeek, if all of our inventions failed we would give up, but works like crap, means still kinda worked! RIGHT!!, I have to get the delrin still. Just a note, tomorrow I am getting 2 pieces of bronze to turn for a pair of cannons. I love building cannons, 75 calibur baby!

OK, I like that, The peice of delrin would have to be larger, I tore apart a spider paint ball marker, and was looking at it, even though it has the two slides, one above the other, it still looks simpler than a tippmann gun. choices, choices, choices, MMMMMM?
