A while back I had to make one of these. As you can see its got spudfiles all over it. Can you guess what it is? Shouldn't be too hard.

It looks like a home made fence post driver.

Add a cookie cutter on the end and it looks like you could make some large diameter burst disks :P

Im not sure but i think just the bottom of the can fits in there to keep it centered while its crushing.

There are no obvious handles on in so I don't see how it can be a post driver, also the 'hammer' looks a bit lightweight.
Those two fittings and the notches at the base look important, I'm thinking some kind of press or cutter.

That would certainly be a cool can crusher. Probably he only one I've seen (tried) is using a large capacitor bank. I only got a little crushing, not really enough current.

It looks like the notches in the base accommodate the bits where the spring clips onto.

Some kind of low energy press maybe?

jor2daje guessed it right. Works pretty good but if I did it again, I'd put a longer throw on it.

I started to have fun with it once, but learned real quick I needed some sort of remote to fire this thing. We put an orange in it. filled it to 120 psi and let it go. None of us were thinking about the after effect. We all got slattered with sticky orange juice. It was a moment that should have been on video. Then I smashed an unopen can, that was messy as well.

I made it for and sold it to a guy at work. No pics.

Now that you mention it maybe thats a future project. Something built solely for smashing things. That would be cool.
