Decent Drawings

Does anyone know of any sites where I can get some good drawings of rifles, etc? I am looking more for tech drawings with some dimensions to refer to when building a shell for a gun. I particularly like the Halo sniper rifle look, but I haven't found anything really significant that I liked.

Any taker??

I believe that's based on the Denel NTW-2014.5/20mm anti materiel rifle.

A good way to get a dimensioned drawing is to find a good side view and crop the picture so that the ends of the picture are the front and rear of the gun. Usually one can find the overall length of a given weapon, take this dimension and scale the picture to the same width. Print it out full size et voila, plans

I did read that somewhere... Anyway, the site, to me, is a real goldmine of photos. One of my projects on the drawing board is a sniper. I figure if I'm going to eventually show it off it may as well look good, too.

Finding a rough overall length then scaling it is a good idea. Through google you'll be able to find dimensions on more popular guns.

I'd love to see a modernized PTRS-41 or Mauser Kar98K. (or the M1 carbine/garand)

I don't know about scales or deminsions or anything, but as far as Halo weapons are concerned, I'd try here.

What an odd looking design! It looks like the barrel is mounted too high to accept any ammo.

Yep, it's basically the standard M14 barrel and action with modern conveniences bolted on

Is that line supposed to be going through the top bar or the bottom bar, the top bar is the barrel and I believe that the bottom one is the gas piston, which pushes the bolt back to allow the next round to feed. its basically an upside down ak47. this makes it more accurate by putting the barrel closer to the sights.

What you can do is to get to know what is the lenght of the scope of the gun ( by model number datasheet) and then make a scale on a printed picture.

I have tried it and it worked very well with the airforce talon ss.

Most of the photographs of guns I've seen are at an angle, to make it 'prettier', I suppose. That tends to throw you off when it comes to getting a good estimate of the length. If I could scale it by using the oval shape of the muzzle an use graphics to turn it to a full side view, I might have something.

Makes me wonder, now, someone has probably already done that, somewhere...
