Ive been playing around with a few different materials and i found one that i like, Duct tape, i havent found any problems yet, and ill have to get some pictures still but here it is,
Mats:
a wooden Dowel about half the size of the piston you want to make(for my 2" i used a wooden broom handle)
a roll of duct tape
a 1 1/4 wood screw
maybe a washer
a drill or screw driver
and a sealing face
so start by wrapping your wood with tape keep wrapping until it fits in your valve this does take a while make sure its smooth and even, no wrinkles and dont telescope it thats also bad, after it fits well take your screw, washer and sealing face and screw it into the dowel grease it up and put it in,
so far i havent needed a bumper (still testing), the tape is soft enough while being hard enough to keep from destroying anything, might be best for metal valves just in case, currently have 2 installed one in my GB cannon, and one in my battery gun
EDIT: seems like the larger pistons cant hold a seal for very long, not sure why, trying to fix that, they are very light and very easy to make though

I tried this with my original one but it would never seal and later on v2 the tape got crushed up so I moved on to a 1 1/4 coupling.
