Buying airguns

I am looking for a relatively strong break-barrel air gun that I can buy here. I am looking for a type of gun, not a dealer and a price class of around 250$, no more than 300.

I would like more than 7joules of energy for this price. At the moment I have the following guns that fit my criteria:

The 240 classic by Diana

The slavia 630 standard by CZ

Any other gun made my diana(RWS) can be ordered, along with Gamo(shadow 1000 and delta for example) and the other major producers.

Really I am looking for accuracy and a bit of a punch at distances of over 15meters, preferably 20+.

I've never owned a Diana air rifle...but I have owned a Slavia 630 for longer than you've been alive.

(~20years now)

It has never given a moments trouble in that time. Very accurate if I do my part, well made, with excellent fit and finish. (especially in this price range)

After 20 years of service, it is time to reseal and replace the spring. Not bad considering the 10's of thousands of rounds it has fired. Parts are still available and not expensive.

Paid $62 in 1989, they cost ~$170 here now.

It is however...not small, nor is it a lightweight "youth" type air rifle.

Physically pick one up...before you buy.

I am happy with a proper gun, i can cock anything really and did enough archery to have arms that can be still under weight, also i play to do much shooting from a bench or on the ground, not too much standing up.

I can't pick one up, it will have to be ordered from my dealer, who gives me 10% off anything, so i will have to take your word for it.

Also, all canadians are saying slavia, i find it funny!

Anyway, anyone else got another suggestion? Or will it be the slavia.

Well if the only guns you can get are the slavia or the 240, I would say go for the 240, Diana's are usually accurate to around 100 meters or so. My friend has one and we go "feilding" every weekend now and it shoots just as far as my crosman quest 1000x

No, i can get any gun made by gamo, diana, CZ and a few other producers that is in my price range. So, no 350 mag, suggest good, not too expensive guns. Also I am happy to do modifications to crank up the power.

There are better Diana models in your price range, also you might want to check the price and availability of Weihrauch models.

I can of course get guns from Weihrauch, again I must ask if you have anything specific in mind. My problem is that since i can't go and try for my self I need suggestions of good guns in my price range. It seems that all diana models cost 50$ more in my country...

Well, until now the overall drift seems to be towards the Slavia. I had the Slavia 634 recommended to me not sure about the price.

Have you seen the Weihrauch HW57? Powerful, underlever and reasonable priced, also very handy, I've fired one and was amazed how light it was compared to my HW97K, even though it was about the same power.

I think my best bet is to stick to the slavia 630, its avaiable, cheep and seems to be a good enough gun. Also I don't plan on spending a fortune by calling my guy from Hong Kong to ask him to check if he can get em the HW57, or the slavia 634 for that matter.

Who would of thought buying an airgun can be so damn complex...

Anyway, thanks alot for all suggestions, if I am making a bad choice with the gun I want to get don't hesitate to tell me.

There's a lot of "feel" which goes into deciding whether you like a particular rifle or not, especially with springers. Not being able to try before you buy is a distinct disadvantage.

are you sure that you need a springer ?? what about PCA airguns ?

I have a sharp innova and I think it's more less what you need - it's dirt cheap (bought for roughly 28 EUR) but has quite good accuracy and power... ohh yeah and it comes with a silencer

lol I still remember what it's like to be 14 or 15... so I understand that price might be a deciding factor... well even if you have more than 40 EUR you might want to buy a scope - those decent enough and strong enough to be put on a springer cost more than 50 EUR here

but since this thing is a PCA it can use even the weakest scopes
