I think we all need to remind ourselves we are dangerously close to having this topic locked. I for one see it going that way unless we change our discussion focus to the actual 'spud guns' they use.

As an adolescent one of my favourite slogans was "F*** the whales, save yourselves!", I have matured somewhat in the meantime and I think we can all agree that if whales were hunted to extinction for pleasure, that would doubtless be a bad thing. I also agree that hunting should be regulated with limited numbers of whales being caught within restricted zones. It is my impression that such restrictions are already in place, and it is the job of elected authorities to enforce them.
What I cannot abide by is unelected NGOs putting themselves in danger then whining about the consequences.
