how many, if any, of you are machinists? i am. any of you that are, how many years have you been doing it? i am still very slowly but steadily working on my first spudgun, but i can already see how being a machinist is such a great advantage in the world of spudding. my website is www.ptimachine.com
if you are interested, check it out to see a few, and i emphasize, FEW, things i have machined in the past. i designed the website myself. i am the shop manager and jack of all trades type machinist of the shop. my specialty is ballistics testing gear, especially projectiles, breech firing systems, etc.

Projectiles, sabots...I like
I have a feeling you'll fit right in here
Have a look at this thread, just one example of the many machined cannons you'll find on Spudfiles. Simply amazing craftsmanship:

There are actually quite a bit of machinists here. I can think of two other machine shop owners, someone who owns a design and drafting company (he made some plans and had it made, search "cobra cannon").
I know a forum lurker who's father owns a machine shop too.
As for me, I get a school full of non CNC stuff (still nice equipment though, as we are a new school)
from memory: larda(not quite sure, but CNC),moonbogg (design), wildebeers(not sure), USFG (something like that, large CNC shop)
None are so at home like you though

I'm not a machinist, but I am a Web Developer that specializes in Web Driven Apps and Graphic Design.
Your Website is pretty decent for doing it yourself, but right now I'm in the process of promoting myself. I will re-do your website with a professional design for free.
It is always nice to see more members join spudfiles.
I hope to see your machining skills take charge in building a decent spudgun.
Here is a thread here on spudfiles showing some of my work:

Great stuff, stick around this site and you'll find many good ideas that would work if only folks had the manner in which they could flesh them out. I've personally gone down the cheaper and slightly more frustrating composite casting route but would trade that for machining facilities any day.

I think I'm gonna faint... JSR give up the wonderful world of EPOXY??? Say it ain't so... I guess Glade needs to come out with an Epoxy Resin scented air freshener now, I'm sure the EPOXYCAVE wouldn't be the same without it...jackssmirkingrevenge wrote: composite casting route but would trade that for machining facilities any day.

The Epoxycave is warm and corrosion free, wouldn't want that to be made of cold hard metaljeepkahn wrote:I'm sure the EPOXYCAVE wouldn't be the same without it...
