And really... Given that they've got what appears to be about a 6' long barrel and they're using solid propellants and they're only getting 2000 fps?

A pretty pathetic cannon cannon.

LOL.
I remember Sam Barros' golfball cannon cannon. And i agree with D_Hall. At least they could have used smokeless, heavier projectile, and for God's sake, bigger safety distances!!!

At least the accuracy seems pretty good at those sub 1ft distances. I thought it would have been moderated or something by now due to the fact that it is, after all, a cannon cannon.

We don't know if the guy who posted it is the builder, and we discussed real cannons before as well as .50 cal BMG, lethality of those rounds etc etc... There also was posted a picture of a 90mm howitzer, so I think as long as the poster doesn't say HE built it, it's just a discussion/comparison.

@Moonbogg : sub 1ft distances , me likey XD

what kinda power/fuel could it infact be using? and thru the whole video was there multiple cannons being used? ( I swear one was pink )lol

The cannons in the video are most likely using solid propellants (black powder etc) and discussing them is therefore against therules of this forum:
Discussion of solid propellants, explosive devices or incendiary projectiles fired specifically from a spud cannon is prohibited, and may result in a permanent banning of your account. For the purpose of this forum, these definitions will be used:

1. Solid propellant: Any substance containing all the chemical elements required to enable sustained combustion without the presence of additional oxidizers. This includes but is not limited to gunpowder, thermite, and many commercial and/or homemade pyrotechnic compounds.
1. For this purpose, nitroglycerine, though liquid, would qualify.
2. For this purpose, ordinary flour, though solid, would not qualify.
2. Explosive device: Any device that has the capability to release large amounts of stored energy rapidly.
1. Discussion of fireworks as projectiles is prohibited.
2. Discussion of "soda bottle bombs" or any other similar devices that may cause shrapnel as a result of uncontrolled rupture is prohibited.
3. Incendiary projectile: Any projectile that is capable of producing flame.
1. Rocket propelled projectiles, pyrotechnic smoke bombs, or any other burning projectiles would qualify as an incendiary projectile
... but if you've followed spudfiles for a while, you should know we don't need solid propellants to obtain similar devastation ;)

JSR is right. The only reason this thread is open is because the cannon is not the main focus of the topic, it's not spudgun related (because I moved it hehe) and we weren't discussing using black powder/solid explosives in cannons.

Thats the whole reason I posted, because I couldn't be sure if that was smoke or sand, but then half way thru I noticed a huge flame coming out the barrel, and figured it out, all in all it was pretty good video, I agree , your statement ".. but if you've followed spudfiles for a while, you should know we don't need solid propellants to obtain similar devastation"

but there's no need to pull the rule book out on me.. its great you have forum rules, I just don't wanna have to kick dirt on your plate... just relax JSR /admin is only for real harm done, lay off

I think the rules do no apply in this case.
It's about discussion the use of solid propellent, or how to make them.

As long as we are not discussing either building something like that or using BP in our creations.

It's simply a link to a vid like many before it.
Would it be against the rules to mention that Pres. Kennedy was shot with a firearm..?!?!??
