Yesterday I downloaded the free version of Google Sketchup, and I just wanted to show you what I made on my first try. This model took me about 2 hrs to make. It's not based off anything in particular, but I guess it's some sort of shotgun. The textures are preloaded textures. I have a little bit of 3D modeling experience, but this was the first time I used Sketchup. Anyway, here it is. (Bear in mind that when you export the 2D graphic from the 3D graphic it loses quality.
The gun looking 2D from the side:
The gun from a 45 degree angle:
The gun from the back:
The gun from the front:
Anyway, there are still things I need to add, like the screws holding in the trigger gaurd and the hammer etc. I hope you enjoyed!!

Cool, The first thing I'd reccomend doing is going around all of the corners with the curve tool and tangenting them to make it a bit smoother. Also perhaps curve the rear of the butstock.
Pretty good, have you seen my post
here?

Ah, Will do. Yes, I saw your tutorial, it was very informative. EDIT: Wait, where is the curve tool? I already softened the edges if that's what you're talking about. I searched on the help center and couldn't find anything usefull.

nice start.
Stick with it, soon it will take you around 10 min. to make something as simple as that (even though I hate sketchup, prefer Blender)

nice job. I recently got sketchup too. I dont know how it could have taken you that long. my first model in sketchup was a crappy pistol with around the same quality(not callling your model crap) and i did it in less then a half hour. But i'm probably the biggest nerd on this site. I'm not going into detail with what i do on the computer thats nerdy. unless you ask. but anyways, good job.

I'd be interested to see what you've made on sketchup, maybe we need to make a sketchup thread....hmmmmm. 8) Anyway, Yeah, I'm kinda a perfectionist, and I didn't know how a lot of the tools worked, so it took me a while I guess. I don't know, I work slow I guess

I might be able to add some Autodesk models.
Yeah, it would be all-inclusive, so models from any modeling program would be fine. Maybe I'll make the tread tomorrow if I feel up to it, or someone else could do it...

There are many 3D models converted to sketchup from an old autocad program.
This library will save you a lot of time.
Some of these models took several days each to complete.
You may not create a very complex realistic 3D model in 5 minutes, unless you want a crude, blocky, "stick" drawing.
Make use of the pneumatic components library and lets see your creations!

Ah! I had forgotten about that! I will certainly do that when I have more time! Thanks!

sure, i MIGHT show you some of mine. I'll make a really good model though and be the best modeler on this site. It's gonna take a while because modeling things isn't as fun as shootin !@#$ with a potato gun.

Just a quick drawing (copied you with the shotgun maverik). It's missing a few details and the internals aren't done but it's alright. Didn't take too long.

NICE, I really like it! It will look awesome when painted and textured and fully detailed I'm sure!
