so this past weekend i made a Semi automatic golf ball cannon. besides the parts i already i had i spent a total of about $50 and it is well worth it.
for the main valve it is just a standard 2inch piston valves with 1.8inch porting. the pilot is what makes it semi and since it is a 3 way valve it vents the entire chamber each shot. i didnt make a fancy valve that got multiple shots off a one chamber fill because i wanted to keep it simple and powerfull.
the loading mech is a blowforward bolt fed from a tee mag that currently holds 9 golf balls.
i have a 24v solinoid on the 3way so the trigger is a momentary switch mounted in a pvc handle.
now for the fun pics!

the veiw of the hole launcher
<a href="http://s696.photobucket.com/albums/vv32 ... 0_9889.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i696.photobucket.com/albums/vv32 ... 0_9889.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>
showing the 3/4inch 3 way valve and the 3/8inch regulator. the 3way is indirect acting so it is a bit slow under 50psi so i keep my minimum operating pressure at 60psi so it always works
<a href="http://s696.photobucket.com/albums/vv32 ... 0_9891.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i696.photobucket.com/albums/vv32 ... 0_9891.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>
the housing for the BFB that is made from 2.5inch sdr 26 (yes a sodacan barrel)
<a href="http://s696.photobucket.com/albums/vv32 ... 0_9893.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i696.photobucket.com/albums/vv32 ... 0_9893.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>
the simple pistol grip
<a href="http://s696.photobucket.com/albums/vv32 ... 0_9894.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i696.photobucket.com/albums/vv32 ... 0_9894.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>
my piston that works great even through it has duct tape on it

<a href="http://s696.photobucket.com/albums/vv32 ... 0_9895.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i696.photobucket.com/albums/vv32 ... 0_9895.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>
the bolt and return spring. after i changed the bolt the holes on the side became useless but i dont feel like making a new one and it doesnt hurt anything
<a href="http://s696.photobucket.com/albums/vv32 ... 0_9896.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i696.photobucket.com/albums/vv32 ... 0_9896.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>
my completly HOLLOW bolt, even through it is not blocked off at the one end it still accuates fully. when i started the one end was blocked off and this caused the bolt to fly forward too fast and break stuff so i found the solution
And what you all are looking for, the damage pic
<a href="http://s696.photobucket.com/albums/vv32 ... 0_9887.jpg" target="_blank"><img src="http://i696.photobucket.com/albums/vv32 ... 0_9887.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket"></a>
this started out as a peice of 1/2inch plywood and my cannon makes easy work of it. the pile of splinters is what is left of the center of the board that i racked out of the grass (PITA) i did this damage is 4 or 5 clips of 9 balls. all of this was done at 70psi becuase my blanket backstop has a hard time stoping the balls even after going through the plywood
oh and the barrel and mag currently on it are sdr26 so it is a little loose fit but dont worry the proper sdr21 barrel is on the way and it will be longer (about a 1ft longer than the current) also i will make a larger magl.
after seeing me shooting this my neighbor has donated about 50 golfballs and a door for a target. the door will definetly be filmed!
And now the video!

all the shots were done at 70psi and yes i know some golfballs fell out. i fixed this by sorting out the small balls from the rest so now they all work. sorry about the second clip the camera must have sliped or something but you get the point of it.
a stonger target is definetly in order
