1000 Cubic Inch Cannon Test (Damage Video)

First off I would like to tell you that there are no pics of my acctual gun in the video, this is beceause the gun is not nearly done yet. I think I will enter it in that contest here and want the cannon to be its best, but I would like to share some of my test video with you all, its only of three shots but there fairly good, exspecially with having to use manually injected propane and the fact that right now its a 3:1 ratio LOL quite far from the ideal 0.8:1 but as I said its all in progress.

What's the construction material? Can you give us some dimensions (combustion chamber pipe size and length, type/rating, barrel info, etc...) or more info?

I think it's a cool concept. If you got a 15 foot barrel it might actually be able to use all that power

For the propane meter, consider building a normal-sized onboard propane meter, set up to inject three measured "shots" instead of one. That way you could make a small, funtional one.

For the ignition... on a cannon this big I think you should go with a stungun, if you're not already. What are you using?

Well so far the gun only has dual chambers (all ABS), the chambers are 36" long but soon I will be adding a third chamber so triple 36" 4" diameter chambers that all lead to a 90 degree bend and a 3" male adapter for interchangeable barrels. So far I have yet to build the stand but it is in progress. It only has a 10' 2" diameter barrel lol far from ideal but I'm getting there. For ignition it use one single piezoelectric ignitor, I wish I could use a stungun but I think that they are illegal in Canada so I may use some other high voltage ignition system. Ill tell you this it has alot of kick back, just the other day I shot 5 potatoes all at once and it was pretty good they all whent throgh the plywood sheet I had set up I beleve it was 1/2" and the gun flew back about 3 feet. As for the propane injection sysetem it will just be a normal one.

I was thinking of hooking up an old vacume cleaner motor and use that for venting after each shot, so I don't have to open up the end caps each time how well do you think that would work? I would still have chamber fans for mixing the fuel though.

Seems pretty good. I can't wait until it's finished. But about the video, have you heard of using a tripod?

lol well it wasn't me filming and to tell you the truth we were more intrested in shooting the gun than filming it but the next video will have sound and will be much better.
