pressurised hydrogen/oxygen

Harness the power of precision mixtures of pressurized flammable vapor. Safety first! These are advanced potato guns - not for the beginner.

hi!

with my experiments of HHO making and im now buildin a piston hybrid pistol, i just got a grazy idea that would it work if i pressurise the chamber with HHO gas. the idea comed when i tried to put HHO with little pressure to my small potato cannon whichs needs very accurate fuel amounts. and it would be free to get and the idea was to use a small bike pump with gauge to pressurise the chamber and the HHO is injekted to the pump

Here's an even grazier idea... Slow down a bit so we can understand your posts. I don't mean to be abrupt, but it really makes it a lot easier to read.

Moving on...

I don't think it is a very wise idea to put 'HHO' (which, strictly speaking is a mix of Hydrogen and Oxygen, and not in itself a gas) into any old spud gun. It doesn't actually perform as well as some other fuels, and if I remember correctly propane and oxygen have it beat. What it does do, is burn very quickly and I would hazard a guess at it increasing the risk of detonation over other fuels.

Most importantly, it is a pure fuel/oxygen mix, with no buffer gas. I have played around with it a little bit on a very small scale, but in anything approaching a reasonable size I would reccomend you either stay well away from it, or exersise extreme caution with it. Its use in a spudgun makes for an interesting oddity, but it is far from ideal for the purpose.

Pressurizing it is going to end badly. You are taking a fast-burning fuel in a pure oxygen environment and then increasing the total amount of gas and therefore potential energy substantially. Judging by the care you put into something as simple as a forum post... someone is going to get hurt.
I wonder how much deeper the ocean would be without sponges.

if you must use unusual materials, or, in any situation where the result is an unknown, please take extreme caution, because bad things happen most often when you least dxpect it

ok, thanks for that.
the chamber is actually 23mm ID pipe that is 5cm long, not so large. actually it was the fuel that i though because it has oxygen in the molecyle, so in small hybrid it would be easyer to fuel cause its going to ingnite every time because the oxygen

EDIT: so, i should have oxygen and propane?

I say air and propane, particularly if you are pressurizing it and creating a hybrid.

You seem to be misunderstanding what exactly 'HHO' is. It is a mixture (Read: Two or more compounds which have been mixed together, but are chemically seperate) of Oxygen molecules (O2) and Hydrogen molecules (H2). It is not, in itself, a fuel. Hydrogen is the fuel, and Oxygen is an oxidizer. HHO is just a (somewhat scientifically incorrect) name given to these two gasses when mixed in a particular ratio.

i think that using hydrogen and oxygen from electrolosis is a great idea. but not is anything plastic

its a powerfull fuel but also dangerous. pummping with a bike pump is not a good idea but if your generator was sealed then the your generator could produce the pressure for you without pumping at all. i would only do this at low x's and in a steel chamber.

"somewhat scientific incorrect"? How about so scientific incorrect as to be a nearly fool-proof way to identify an idiot?

Anyone that uses the term "HHO" shouldn't be within 100' of anything that goes bang.

damn you, why i cant call it HHO? it has H2 and O, because electrolyser dosent giv oxygen as mutch as hydrogen

The "electrolyser " doesn't produce O because O is unstable. It gives O2. The "electrolyser" doesn't give HH because H is unstable, and even if it did exist as single H atoms it would be written 2H not HH. The "electrolyser" gives H2.

H<sub>2</sub>O --> H<sub>2</sub> + (1/2)O<sub>2</sub>
or if you can't handle fractions;
2H<sub>2</sub>O --> 2H<sub>2</sub> + O<sub>2</sub>

BTW, the word is "electrolyzer".

Yep, I'm being pedantic. But pedantry is what keeps people that blow stuff up for a living alive. (as well as people that work with stuff that might blow up.)

But HHO indicates that there is a separate H atom and HO molecule.

It isn't, it's a mix of H2 & O2 with two parts H2 & one part O2.

You can call it whatever the hell you like, but don't expect us to
know what you're talking about.

I don't think you understand just how powerful a hybrid with
pure O2 as the oxidiser, with a longer chamber DDT will be very likely.

Now tell me what DDT is, if you can't, don't even think about a
hybrid, let alone a H2 O2 hybrid.

Learn about hybrids, then we'll have a discussion about O2 hybrids.

Also, don't get annoyed when someone corrects you.

[Edit: jimmy101, how did you do subscript? I wanted to do that for ages.

Gonna be pedantic myself here - depends which variant of English you're speaking. In British English, "Electrolyser" is the correct spelling.

GOOGLE FIGHT!
ElectrolySer: 16,000
ElectrolyZer: 6,450

I do all my spelling via Google Fights :D

Besides, British English isn't real English.

I wouldn't. Otherwise you'll end up spelling everything "Pee... Ohh... Arr... Enn".
I guarantee, that will win most Google Fights.

(Okay, joke aside, it's not actually all that many hits. It falls short of "Sex", "Love", "Art" and "Google" itself.)
Besides, British English isn't real English.
I'm just going to ignore this. :roll:
