I recently built a simple inline ballvalve-actuated cannon.

Specs:
Tank: 2' long, 3" diameter
Barrel: 4' long, 1.5" diameter
Valve: 1" diameter ball valve

It is a very simple cannon, and i have made other, more complex ones, but i wanted to try to do something interesting with the paint. I used Krylon Fusion. The lettering was just masked before painting and then removed after it dried.

The only concearn i have is that the barrel may be too long, and could be adversly affecting performance.

And yes, all the parts are pressure rated, and yes, i know a modded sprinkler valve would make it more powerful.

Hope you like it :D

Pretty nice just to build something simple and pretty powerful. The color is nice along with the name and how you sprayed on the letters. Now you need to do that with a sick ass powerfull cannon and give it an awesome name that will definately mean what its named. I heard of the Black Dahlia but i forgot was it was. Can someone refresh me on that.

Thats awesome looking dude! Did you do the lettering with regular tape? If so that's an amazing job, gives the gun a kick ass vibe to it.

I don't think a long barrel can hurt your performance.. Yes the ball valve is slow but I have had a few ball valve guns that can knock the living crap out of you. AND it's threaded on so you can always replace it with the sprinkler valve later on if you want. Great cannon bro!

NOW!! We need to see some destruction!

Well, the balck dahlia was an actress named elizabeth short, who was brutally murdered back in the 30's, i belive.

More importantly, there is a melodic death metal band called the black dahlia murder. The text is from the band logo.

edit:dornep, i used regular masking tape, and thank you, it took FOREVER to do.

There's a well made movie on the subject with the same name.

Nice looking cannon Ninja! Any particular reason you named it after a brutal murder case? I know you explained a little earlier....still seems a little uncouth, IMO of course.

Your barrel length is fine and you could even go out more if you wanted. Depending on your tank pressure of course, you could easily triple that length and actually still gain performance.
