Build a pressure regulator?

Hello all, I'm currently contemplating trying to make a pressure regulator myself for my bb cannon. The reason is that my tank can hold 400PSI but I don't want to expose my pressure washer handle to that high a pressure for a very long time, and also, Since it is a valveless design, As the tank empties, the rate of fire goes down, and I'd prefer it to be constant.

What I want to do is attach a regulator to regulate 400PSI down to about 130-150PSI to the pressure washer.

Since I'm finding it difficult to find a regulator for a reasonable price that can do what I require, I was wondering if somebody could help me come up with an idea to make one. I have epoxy of several types, steel pipes, and syringes to use, and simple hand tools. Might have to get a bit creative here.

I'd be open to buying one but I can't find any that do the above, if anybody knows of one I'd buy it for a reasonable price.

I guarentee that to build a regulator CORRECTLY you're going to spend more money than if you'd just purchased one (esp. true given your lack of tools). To build one incorrectly is just plain stupid (read: suicidal). Can't afford one? Go mow some lawns.

$100 is about the most I'd spend on this... Trying to find one as small as possible and without gauges, so it will fit in my design... You've put me onto a good thing with those nitrogen regs... But it looks like they wouldn't fit. I wonder if I could cut the gauges out and plug the holes? hmmm...

PS I live in australia and most of those on the american ebay site wont post to me.

The guage ports on mine are 1/4"npt....easy to plug.

With $100 budget, you shouldn't have too much trouble finding something.
