Flat AA battery. I challenge some1 to replicate this. video*

I was inspired by another member on this forum, to see what kind of damage I could do to a AA battery. It was destroyed.

I took a few photos, and a video, and i want to see some one else replicate these results. I know it should not be to hard to do, a decent hybrid, or a powerful pneumatic should accomplish this.


Remember, its not the damage to the target we are trying to replicate, its the damage to the ammo (battery).

Here is what i managed to find.... it is paper thin.

The first shot is about 550 to 600 psi. the second shot is over 1000 psi.
The third shot was just for fun... and is a socket, shot at 700ish psi,

The target is a small box i made from plate steel. 2 sides and the bottom of the box are made from a single piece of 1/4'' steel, bent with a brake, and the other 2 sides are 1/8'' steel, welded in place. I shot at the 1/4'' sides.

I'd like to see the launcher you used. I used a hybrid with a 10' barrel. Unfortunately, I was unable to find the remains of the battery. You can kinda see the little bits flying off in the highspeed video.

Don't be silly Tech. If you want to make a flat AA battery, turn on a mini-maglite and forget to turn it off - you'll have two flat batteries in no time.

Almost.... it has been modified almost enough to deserve to be called a new cannon.

On a side note, i HAVE been toying with valveless designs...valveless and tons of psi seems to be the future of my cannons.

I will admit... although there was a fire in my basement... it was contained... in a steel box... therefore i did indeed smile from ear to ear.

That was the first time i have ever started a fire with a pneumatic.

On the real subject, I have an idea to try.. I'll see how it goes if I get a chance. Those of us limited by compressor capacity may still be in the game.

I don't have to use a 1/2 inch barrel.. I have sabots. I'm out of daylight now. I'm not discharging the 2 inch indoors.

I would love to see what a QDV cannon can do!

Just a question for you tech, i am thinking about making a 2'' porting QDV in a sort of coaxial design, chamber would be 4''x5' barrel is 2''.....

Any thoughts/tips?

What is the largest QDV you have ever built/seen?

My largest is 2 inch. Plans are in the future for a 4 inch with an 8 gallon chamber. Current build is 2.5 inch.

4 inch by 5 feet is a little larger than my ABS chamber.
Avoid PVC. It won't like a pounding from the piston.

Tip, be sure to polish the pipe for the o rings. Use a good bumper or expect it to remove itself out the back.

Ahh Rag, i see why you've changed your signature now....

A problem with this, is that it will affect the results if it has not hit at the right angle.
You would need a rifled barrel to realy get it to fly straight and i wouldn't risk it standing close and having battery acid and bits of shrapnel being sprayed at you unless you have some sort of remote ignition.

Nah, tape a cylindrical paper tail to it. Easy.

More likely, the bigger problem is that shooting from a long distance will bring up the issue of aerodynamic drag not being a consideration in battery design.
