i just had a crazy idea for some super thick pipe for a monsterous hybrid.
first order some 4in diameter solid pvc rids and some 5in rods, then get a drill press and drill a 3in hole in the center of the 4in rod to make a pipe with a 1" thick wall, that would be the chamber. then take the 5" rods and drill 4" holes to make fittings and caps. idk if this would work, but i just thought i would post it. feel free to tell me all the flaws so i dont try this and kill myself with a like 20x mix, lol
(20x might be an exageration)
EDIT: ok, nvm. wont work for a hybrid, propane would liquify. but u could make a huge friggen pnumatic i think

oh wow, if u realized that it wont work, then y post it in EVERYBODIES forums? it is everywhere
to repeat my comment:
wish there was a way to evaporate the propane at 90psi.
with a huge burst disk, u can make a pumkin kannon and enter it in that cool contest

lol, imagin how much psi a pipe with a 1" think wall could hold though, if stock rods are pressure rated even

i edited your post for you walrus, and deleted the double post. i dont see why you would want 1" thick walls, if you're using that much pressure you should just buy some high pressure steel pipe, solid stock rod is expensive, sch 40 type is 5 dollars a foot for 2", plus you'd need a huge drillpress to handle a 3" bit, and you'd need a morse taper press too, i dont think you could bore that far easily with a lathe, i might try boreing about a foot of aluminum for a chamber. plus solid stock rod doesnt come in pipe sizes, it comes in inch sizes so you'd need to turn it down so you could put normal fittings on it

and the answer is.... METAL
i've heard of metal cannons that can hold thousands of PSI. My uncle owns and runs a metal weld shop and whatever, but he lives in Hawaii.... much farther than me on East coast US. It would be killer if he could build me a metal one.

holy crap, now to get a burst disc to hold thousands, titanium maybe
Edit: actually spudshot they have a 1" union that is rated for 6000psi for only like $20

Yeah, that'd only be about sch 80, wouldn't it? hmmf. (too lazy to look up the acctualy wall thickness, so that may verry well be quite off)
You could use a forsners bit, they have a 1.2 shaft I think. But they are really expensive.spudshot wrote:i edited your post for you walrus, and deleted the double post. i dont see why you would want 1" thick walls, if you're using that much pressure you should just buy some high pressure steel pipe, solid stock rod is expensive, sch 40 type is 5 dollars a foot for 2", plus you'd need a huge drillpress to handle a 3" bit, and you'd need a morse taper press too, i dont think you could bore that far easily with a lathe, i might try boreing about a foot of aluminum for a chamber. plus solid stock rod doesnt come in pipe sizes, it comes in inch sizes so you'd need to turn it down so you could put normal fittings on it
