I've heard of people using propane adapters that screw onto the propane tank and have 1/4" npt threads on the other side. Where can I get one? Besides LaunchPotatoes
I'm not paying 25 bucks for it

Check a camping supply or propane heater supply store. I picked up supplies so I can use my Propane torch on a bulk tank with a high pressure propane hose (the hose has left hand threads) You can get the adapters for either end of a hose or project. I just got the female so I can attach the torch or when camping, a bulk tank so I don't have to buy the expensive disposable tanks. I don't remember what I paid for mine because it was many years ago. I do remember they were not cheap then either.

I've found a few online but so far they are expensive. This one might be an option, 5 dollar shipping which brings the total to 15 bucks. Shouldn't have even made this thread
I'll keep looking for cheaper ones.

Try using a blow torch head with a hose connected to the end it, the put a hose barb in the end of the hose the screw another hose barb on the pipe and inject how ever much you need into the pipe, then on the end of the pipe just put a ball valve before your chamber. Thats what i thought about doing, it is esectially the same thing
( Dont forget your pressure gauge in the pipe as well)

That is not nearly as cheap or compact as I was hoping
plus I need liquid to come out.

I think 15 will be about the lowest, is that your picture by the way.
That is all.
You could make it kinda like this,
put a hose on the end of the torch then a hose barb on the end of the pipe and on the other end of the pipe put a tire chuck and on your gun put a tire valve and inject it into your gun , which is really neat!!! =)

I kid you not, but most of the time it's cheaper to buy a small soldering torch and remove the adaptor from it. Everyone charges ridiculous prices for small tank adaptors because not many people use them and they can get away with it.
Or, as a free alternative, check your local scrap and garbage piles for those little portable gas grills. They rust out quick and most people just throw them away and buy a new one, but the adaptors are still fine.

@clemsonguy nope I got it online. If it was my picture I wouldn't need the adapter

Since this ties in with the adapter, if I invert the propane tank, and connect the adapter to a galvanized nipple, will liquid propane go into the nipple?

It's funny how refilling propane tanks is illegal but they sell refill adapters at harbor freight

Pretty sure transporting refilled tanks is what's illegal.Gun Freak wrote:It's funny how refilling propane tanks is illegal but they sell refill adapters at harbor freight
As for handling the liquid propane - search recent threads. There was one about just that a couple weeks ago with some detailed explanations.
