How easy are QEV's to install. Do you have to use them in conjunction with any other valves or do they work on there own? Sorry for the simple questions but I have done a lot of research and am still struggling to understand how they work.

Nope.. I added some much like you would add a few drops of food coloring to a glass of water. I put in a few drops, stirred, tested on plastic, added some more, etc. It was a full can of cleaner. I put maybe 1/8th of the bottle of the refrigerant oil dye. That bottle in the pic was used on a car AC so some was already used. I did not use anywhere near the half of the bottle that is used. In approx numbers the bottle is one fl oz so about 1/8th oz to a can of cleaner.
I have enough dye left in that bottle to do at least 4 more cans.

A beautiful example of a relatively simple yet powerful QEV launcher built entirely with UK purchased parts, you could make a slightly less sophisticated version of it as a first project which would teach you a lot and still be fun to put together and use.

Sweating, rather. I advise against trying to weld copper, it'd be a bit excessive. Heat the copper, allow the solder to wick into the join. You'll need to heat the components to at least the melting point of the solder to get it to wick into the joint.

Is copper pipe pressure rayed. If so does it leak Through the solder?

Generally speaking, yes copper pipe is pressure rated. It shouldn't leak if you join them properly.

Actually, I found a compound at my local Ace Hardware that is designed to join copper without any heat required. I assume it's a sort of epoxy but it's supposedly rated to 500PSI. The link was huge. I have yet to try it so I'll add my test results when I get to it.

If I'm not mistaken, most of the connections on the example above are compression fittings. Epoxy is an easy way to put it together without having to learn the black arts of sweating...

You need a lot of pressure to do that though, rated pipe will take anything a shock pump or fridge compressor will throw at it.

Caution is good, but you should define what you want and get building ;)
